Qualifications

• 8+ years of operational payments experience, across PSPs, merchant acquiring or cross-border remittance.
• Proven client money safeguarding expertise with segregation and regulatory compliance.
• Deep knowledge of domestic and international payment rails and cross-border remittance workflows.

Responsibilities

• Direct global payment operations, cross-border payouts, wires, and exception handling.
• Enforce client funds safeguarding under HK SFC Client Money Rules and related frameworks.
• Partner with product, engineering and banks to automate back-office processes and improve efficiency.

We are hiring a Trading Operations & Clearing Lead to take executive ownership of global multi-currency deposit/payout operations, client money safeguarding, liquidity management, and daily payment processing.

Key Responsibilities

1. Global Payment Operations & Client Safeguarding

• Daily Settlement & Payouts: Direct day-to-day global payment operations, cross-border payouts, wire transfers, and exception handling across banking channels (FPS, SEPA, FAST, SWIFT).
• Client Money Safeguarding: Enforce strict operational protocols for segregating and protecting client funds in full compliance with HK SFC Client Money Rules and banking trust frameworks.
• Bank & Regulatory Partner Management: Serve as the primary operational contact for clearing banks, payment service providers (PSPs), and regulatory inquiries.

2. Multi-Currency Liquidity & Cash Management

• Position & Cash Flow Management: Oversee daily balance positioning across global bank accounts and payment channels to prevent payout delays or balance deficits.
• Yield & Fee Optimization: Work with banking partners to reduce transfer fees, optimize foreign exchange structures, and maximize interest returns on held balances.

3. Systems & Process Improvement

• Workflow Automation: Partner with Product and Technology teams to define business requirements (BRDs) for automated reconciliation, payout batching, and banking API integrations.
• SOPs & Risk Governance: Establish standardized operational procedures (SOPs) for payout approvals, return wires, fee reviews, and vendor management.

Requirements

• Mandatory Payments Experience: 8+ years of operational experience within the payments industry —specifically Payment Service Providers (PSPs), Merchant Acquiring, Cross-Border Remittance, or Payment Institutions.
• Client Money & Safeguarding Expertise: Proven experience managing client segregated accounts, trust structures, and regulatory compliance (e.g., HK SFC or global client money frameworks).
• Payment Rails Mastery: Deep knowledge of domestic and international payment systems, bank clearing mechanics, and cross-border remittance workflows.
• Tech-Savvy Operations Leader: Experience working with product and engineering teams to automate back-office operations and eliminate manual processing errors.
• Credentials: Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CFA) and a Finance/Economics degree preferred.
• Languages & Location: Professional fluency in English and Mandarin. Based in or willing to relocate to Hong Kong.
