Job summary

DFI Retail Group seeks an Assistant Finance Manager to act as the finance lead for major Tech and Digital business cases. You will critically challenge assumptions, partner with project owners and tech leads, and ensure ROI and TCO compliance while supporting strategy and portfolio management.

You will present insights to senior management, translate complex tech investments into clear financial narratives, and contribute to post-investment reviews to drive accountability and value realization.

Qualifications

Qualified accountant/financial advisor with 5+ years of experience (CPA/ACCA/CIMA/CFA or MBA).
Strategic finance business partner with a track record of challenging cases and influencing senior stakeholders.
Exceptional financial modeling and analysis skills, able to stress‑test complex models.
Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
Commercial acumen and curiosity for how technology drives business value.
Experience in technology, digital, e-commerce, or digitally-native businesses.
Experience managing financials of large project portfolios or investment committees.
Familiarity with tech concepts such as SaaS metrics, agile funding, and cloud TCO.
Strategic thinker who links financial outcomes to long-term strategy.
Courageous and influential in challenging senior leaders and driving accountability.
Proactive and insightful with stakeholder anticipation.
Collaborative bridge-builder across business and tech functions.

Responsibilities

Act as the primary finance lead in developing and reviewing major Tech and Digital business cases.
Critically challenge assumptions, cost estimates, and benefit projections for robustness and alignment.
Partner with Project Owners, Tech Leads, and BU stakeholders to secure sign-off on benefit ownership and delivery.
Ensure business cases comply with policies (ROI hurdles, capex control) and reflect full TCO.
Support development of Tech and Digital investment strategy including budget and portfolio management.
Prepare Board papers, strategy decks, and Executive updates with clear financial narratives.
Provide analysis on tech portfolio performance highlighting variances, risks, and opportunities.
Move from reporting to actionable insights on tech spend, benefits, and portfolio health.
Present regular financial updates to Tech Leadership focusing on implications and accountability.
Establish post-investment review rhythms to track ROI vs plan.
