Job summary

King George V School (KGV) in Hong Kong, part of the English Schools Foundation (ESF), seeks a qualified Mathematics teacher for a full-time two-year contract starting August 2027. The role covers IB MYP, GCSE and DP, with concept-based lessons and data-informed curriculum decisions.

You will join a collaborative Mathematics Department, contribute to professional learning, lead or support extracurricular activities, and build strong relationships with students, staff and parents within ESF's

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree Mathematics and a recognised Postgraduate teaching qualification or equivalent.
• Teaching experience in a recognised educational organisation.
• Experience with IB MYP, (I)GCSE and IB DP is preferable.
• Ability to deliver concept-based lessons for the Middle Years Programme.
• Willingness to teach IGCSE Further Pure Mathematics and IB DP HL for experienced teachers.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support mathematics-related extracurricular activities.
• Use data on student learning to inform curriculum, teaching and assessment.
• Collaborate with the Mathematics Department Professional Learning Teams to improve student learning.
• Build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.

KGV Teacher of Mathematics Full-Time 2-Year Finite Contract – From August 2027

Our school delivers the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) in years 7 to 9, the (I)GCSE in years 10 and 11, after which our students progress to study either the IB Diploma Program or the more vocationally oriented BTEC applied learning program in years 12 and 13.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree Mathematics, plus a recognised Postgraduate teaching qualification, or equivalent
• Teaching experience within a recognised educational organisation
• Teaching experience and capacity in mathematics in IB MYP, (I)GCSE and IB DP is preferable
• Ability and willingness to deliver concept-based lessons to provide an exciting and challenging Middle Years Programme is an advantage
• Ability and willingness to teach IGCSE Further Pure Mathematics and IBDP Higher Level for teachers with relevant experience would be an advantage
• Experience and ability to use data on student learning to modify curriculum, teaching and assessment provision
• Ability to contribute strongly to the Mathematics Department Professional Learning Teams collaboration which is focused on improving student learning
• Effective interpersonal skills and ability to form positive relationships with students, staff and parents
• Ability to lead or support extra-curricular activities as part of the whole-school CAS programme
