Job summary

The English Schools Foundation (ESF) in Hong Kong seeks a Learning Technology Teacher to empower staff and students to use technology to enhance learning. You will teach computational thinking, innovative design and maker‑centred projects across all year groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Education or a degree plus PGCE, or equivalent.
• Relevant teaching experience within a recognised educational organisation.
• Permanent Hong Kong resident or valid visa to work in Hong Kong.

Job description

The role of Learning Technology Teacher is to empower all stakeholders to use and understand technology to enhance learning. The post holder will have responsibility to teach computational thinking, innovative design and maker-centred learning across all year groups.

The successful candidate will work and teach in an inclusive way, recognising and valuing every student’s identity. They will use a strength-based approach to enable all students to flourish. The teacher will align with the inclusive philosophy of the school, forging strong and collaborative connections with students, teachers, educational assistants and parents.

This role is for a 10.5 month contract.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have the skills/ experience to:

• Lead learning for computational thinking, innovative design and maker-centred learning. This includes construction skills, design thinking, tool safety, coding with microcontrollers, components and robotics
• Partner with educators to evaluate the efficacy of digital learning content and tools to inform procurement decisions and adoption
• Pursue professional learning that deepens expertise in the ISTE Standards in order to serve as a model for educators and leaders
• Use modern manufacturing tools such as laser cutters and 3D printers, and teach their usage to others
• Engage in online communities around edtech

The ideal candidate will have some classroom experience and knowledge of and a drive to keep updated on:

• Managing online systems and databases
• Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 administrator experience
• Knowledge and understanding of networking and terminology
• iOS and Mac MDM experience

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Education, or
• Bachelor's Degree in any subject with PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education), or equivalent
• Relevant teaching experience within a recognised educational organisation
