Job summary

HKEX is seeking a motivated System Development Manager to join the Listing Systems team in Hong Kong. You will oversee the full software development lifecycle for modern web applications used by listed companies.

You will collaborate with business users, infrastructure, security, and development teams to design scalable solutions, plan testing, and ensure successful deployments. Mentoring and technical excellence are core expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in development, implementation, and support of enterprise web applications.
• Proven experience as a Senior System Analyst or equivalent role, with vendor management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Knowledge of application security, microservices, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems.
• Experience with SPA, API design and governance, RESTful services, and OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Knowledge of database design and data modeling; PostgreSQL, GaussDB, Redis is a plus.
• Proven experience leading QA activities for critical systems.

Listing Systems team is responsible for the design and implementation of all of our applications systems for our Listing Division. We are now hiring a motivated and energetic System Development Manager to join us.

You will be involved in the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and production support of modern web applications used by all the listed companies.

Job Duties:

• Participate in project planning, scheduling, change management, issue resolution, and release management. Monitor project progress, ensure adherence to project milestones, and provide timely and effective communication of project status to stakeholders.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business users, infrastructure, security, and development teams, to analyse business requirements and propose practical, scalable, and sustainable technical solutions.

• Define, plan, and execute testing activities to ensure applications meet both functional and non-functional requirements, including reliability, performance, resilience, contingency, and security standards.

• Support application delivery throughout the project lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, testing, deployment, and production support.

• Coordinate with development teams and vendors to ensure quality deliverables, timely execution, and compliance with established standards and best practices.

• Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Minimum 8 years of experience in the development, implementation, and support of mission-critical, enterprise-scale web applications.

• Proven experience as a Senior System Analyst or equivalent role, working closely with development teams and managing vendors throughout the full project lifecycle.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, with keen attention to detail.

• Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into robust, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions.

• Solid understanding of application security, microservices architecture, event-driven architecture, distributed systems, and scalability best practices.

• Experience with Single Page Applications (SPA), API design and governance, RESTful services, and API documentation standards such as OpenAPI/Swagger.

• Knowledge of database design, data modeling, and technologies such as PostgreSQL, GaussDB, and Redis would be an advantage.

• Proven experience in leading quality assurance activities for critical application systems, ensuring compliance with functional, technical, performance, and security requirements.

• Self-motivated and proactive team player with strong leadership capabilities, able to mentor team members and drive technical excellence.

• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across business and technical teams.
