Job summary

Siemens Hong Kong is seeking an experienced Electrical/Automation Engineer to support substation RTU/PLC systems on-site. You will perform troubleshooting, configuration, maintenance and on-site testing to meet project timelines, while coordinating with the Project Manager and clients.

The role requires 5+ years in electrical/control/automation engineering, strong knowledge of RTU/PLC systems, and proficiency in English and Chinese.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level or above education in Electrical/Electronic/Control and Automation Engineering is required.
• Minimum 5 years in electrical, electronic, control and automation engineering.
• Solid experience with automation RTU/PLC systems is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site troubleshooting, device configuration, maintenance, repairs and test-and-commission for substation automation RTUs.
• Deliver assigned project activities on schedule and provide updates to Project Manager and stakeholders.
• Participate in standby duty rosters including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors during site works ensuring safety and quality compliance.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues using specialized tools.
• Prepare technical manuals and documents for submission and assist engineering team.

Smart Infrastructure – Electrification & Automation

Responsibilities

• Perform on site troubleshooting, device configuration, maintenance, repairs and test‑and‑commission (T&C) for substation automation RTUs and ensure service and T&C is completed within target timeline.
• Deliver assigned project activities on schedule and provide regular updates to the Project Manager and client stakeholders.
• Participate in a rotational standby duty roster that may include nights, weekends, and public holidays.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors during site works, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety rules, and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues using specialized tools and equipment.
• Support the Engineering team in preparing technical manuals and documents for submission.
• Perform ad‑hoc duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Higher Diploma or above in Electrical/Electronic/Control and Automation Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in electrical, electronic, control and automation engineering.
• Solid experience with automation RTU/PLC systems is highly preferable.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as DNP3, Modbus and IEC 61850 is preferable.
• Strong knowledge of Control and Automation Systems and SHEQ system implementation.
• Excellent communication skills and a team‑player attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Well‑versed in MS Office applications and AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese.
• Willingness to develop technical competence in Substation RTU and automation.
