Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field; advanced degree or professional qualifications highly regarded.
• Experience: 15+ years in capital markets with project execution/operations focus.
• Proven market structure design experience and knowledge of HK/Asian exchanges.
• 10+ years of people management in a complex, matrixed org.
• Strong analytical, presentation, and C-suite influencing skills.
• Fluency in Mandarin and English; Cantonese a plus.

HKEX and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Asian and global capital markets.

Within HKEX, the Trading Development team is responsible for driving the evolution of our Cash, Derivatives and Connect markets through strategic market development, infrastructure enhancement and industry engagement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Leadership & Market Design: Lead and direct strategic initiatives to expand and optimize market structure design across core asset classes and trading channels (including cash, derivatives and connect markets). Uphold market integrity in alignment with HKEX’s revenue goals and regulatory mandates.
• Project Execution Oversight: Assume end-to-end ownership of project planning, ensure quality execution, and operational readiness. Ensure strict adherence to timelines, budgeting, and accountability across enterprise divisions.
• Market Analysis: Anticipate shifts in global and Mainland China regulatory landscapes. Assess the evolving market environment across Hong Kong, competing exchanges to craft robust strategies that meet the dynamic needs of market participants.
• Executive Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and nurture high-level relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including IT teams, regulators, Mainland counterparts, and multi-national industry bodies, ensuring seamless collaboration and strategic alignment.
• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of professionals, fostering a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement, operational excellence, and professional growth.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Social Science, Journalism or a related field. An advanced degree or relevant professional qualifications will be highly regarded.
• Minimum of 15 years of progressive professional experience with a core focus on capital markets. Direct experience in project execution management, and/or operations.
• Demonstrated expertise in market structure design, supported by comprehensive product knowledge of Hong Kong and broader Asian / international exchanges. A solid understanding of the full exchange life cycle covering trading, clearing and settlement, and risk management.
• A proven track record working within multinational financial institutions (such as global and Chinese Mainland exchanges, brokerages, or intermediaries) is highly preferred. In-depth knowledge of Hong Kong capital markets is a distinct plus.
• Minimum of 10 years of proven people management and team leadership experience in a complex, matrixed organization.
• Skills:
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills with the ability to navigate operational workflows.
• High-level presentation and lobbying skills, with the demonstrated ability to articulate complex ideas and influence C-suite stakeholders and regulators effectively.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in Mandarin with an excellent command of spoken and written English is essential. Conversational Cantonese would be a distinct plus.
• Attributes: Proactive, meticulous, highly adaptable, and adept at building effective strategic relationships across varied geographies and divisions.
