Responsibilities

• Morning pre-market health checks and market-hours monitoring across core trading systems.
• Act as an escalation point (L2/L3) to resolve complex trading incidents and data anomalies.
• Maintain Fidessa OMS/EMS, iAsia front-to-back, and eSunny futures systems.
• Manage trading gateways, market data feeds, FIX connectivity, and third-party integrations.
• Contribute to architecture optimization and performance tuning for fault tolerance.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced and technically proficient Senior Trading System Support Engineer to join our IT team. This role will be primarily responsible for the daily operation and maintenance, advanced technical support, system architecture optimization, disaster recovery drills, and efficient collaboration with exchanges (e.g., HKEX) and system vendors for our Hong Kong and global securities and futures trading systems, ensuring high availability and business continuity of the trading platforms.

Responsibilities

1. Trading System Operations & Advanced Technical Support

• Responsible for morning pre-market health checks, market-hours monitoring, troubleshooting, and End-of-Day (EOD) settlement support across core trading systems (Securities, Options, Futures, etc.).
• Serve as an advanced technical escalation point (L2/L3) to independently and efficiently resolve complex trading incidents, network dropouts, or market data anomalies.
• Proficiently manage and maintain Fidessa institutional trading/Order Management System (OMS/EMS), iAsia front-to-back office system, and eSunny futures trading system.
• Respond to and handle technical requirements and complex issues from the Trading Desk, Middle/Back Office, and Risk Management departments.
• Maintain trading gateways, market data feeds (e.g., HKEX OMD), FIX engine/connectivity, and third-party API integrations.
• Participate in trading system architecture optimization and tuning to help enhance system performance and fault tolerance.
• Drive infrastructure automation initiatives by writing Python/Shell scripts to develop automated health check, monitoring/alerting, and auxiliary operational tools.
• Improve incident response mechanisms by writing and updating advanced operational documentation, emergency response playbooks, and system checklists.
• Responsible for the preparation, coordination, and execution of Market Rehearsals, Mandatory Drills, and BCP/DR failover testing hosted by HKEX and overseas exchanges.
• Coordinate with system vendors (ION/Fidessa, iAsia, eSunny, etc.) on system upgrades, hotfixes, performance testing, UAT testing for new features, and production change management.
• Serve as the core technical contact to maintain effective communication with vendors, market data providers, and telecom operators, tracking and driving the resolution of complex vendor issues.
• Assist with technical audits and compliance reviews to ensure system configurations and connectivity comply with regulatory and cybersecurity requirements of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and HKEX.

Qualifications & Requirements

1. Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Financial Engineering, or related disciplines.
• 5+ years of experience in trading system operations or advanced technical support within financial institutions in Hong Kong (Chinese/foreign brokerages, futures firms, or trading system vendors).
• Deep understanding of trading workflows across HK and global securities, futures, and options markets (order routing, clearing, settlement, risk control, market data distribution, etc.).

2. Core Technical Skills

• Proficient in Fidessa trading system operational management, and/or master the front-to-back architecture of iAsia and eSunny futures platforms.
• Proficient in HKEX trading and market data architecture (e.g., OCG trading gateway, OMD market data feed, VCM/CAS mechanisms, etc.).
• Proficient in Linux/Unix administration, SQL querying, and skilled in Shell / Python scripting for task automation.

3. Soft Skills & Languages

• Excellent ability to work under pressure, strong logical analytical skills, and fast troubleshooting capabilities during high-pressure situations.
• Strong team spirit with effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Language Requirements: Fluent in Mandarin or Cantonese, with a functional command of written and spoken English for reading, writing, and technical communication.
