Job summary

Global Investment Bank in Hong Kong is seeking a Java Software Engineer to join the Front Office Technology team. The role focuses on expanding a global FX trading platform from EMEA into APAC, supporting trading across Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan and China.

You will work directly with Sales and Traders to deliver business-critical trading solutions and connectivity platforms, with a strong emphasis on Java-based development and low-latency design.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Java development experience.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Microservices, and Event-Driven Architecture.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance Front Office trading applications using Java 11, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Microservices.
• Support the APAC rollout of the bank's global FX platform.
• Build and maintain connectivity solutions including trading venues, market data feeds, liquidity providers, and internal trading systems.
• Design scalable, event-driven applications and low-latency trading components.
• Collaborate closely with Front Office users, BAs, and global technology teams.
• Provide occasional L3 support (10-20%); majority of the role is hands-on development.

Java Software Engineer - Front Office FX Trading

Our client, a leading international investment bank, is looking for a Java Software Engineer to join their Front Office Technology team in Hong Kong. You'll play a key role in expanding a global FX trading platform from EMEA into APAC, supporting trading activities across Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, and China.

This is a highly visible Front Office role, working directly with Sales and Traders to deliver business-critical trading solutions and connectivity platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance Front Office trading applications using Java 11, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Microservices.

Requirements

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with traders and business stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to understand complex business workflows.
