Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, or Production Engineering.
• Experience supporting business-critical production environments.
• Experience with distributed infrastructures where performance and availability are paramount.
• Experience working in a Follow-the-Sun support model.
• Fluent written and spoken English and Mandarin.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high availability and operational readiness of Horizon's managed trading platforms.
• Monitor, maintain, and optimize production environments through proactive health checks, performance tuning, upgrades, and preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose and resolve infrastructure, network, database, and application incidents to minimize service disruption and meet service level objectives.
• Respond proactively to infrastructure alerts and client issues, lead deep-dive root cause analyses, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance platform reliability.
• Enforce change management procedures, including CAB reviews, break glass processes, and four-eyes validation.
• Ensure compliance with internal operational processes and security standards.
• Collaborate in the design and implementation of infrastructure supporting hosting, exchange connectivity, market data, and managed services offerings.
• Deploy and maintain shared and dedicated infrastructure across on-premises, colocation, and public cloud environments.
• Contribute to infrastructure modernization and standardization initiatives.
• Ensure platforms remain secure, scalable, and resilient. Strengthen platform security through implementation of appropriate controls and tooling.

As our Managed Services and SaaS activities continue to grow across APAC, we are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our Hong Kong team and play a key role in delivering highly available, secure, and performant trading infrastructures for our clients.

Role Overview

The Senior SRE Engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, operating, and continuously improving the infrastructure supporting Horizon's hosted and managed trading platforms.

Working closely with Infrastructure, Development, Product, and Client Services teams, you will ensure the reliability, security, performance, and scalability of critical production environments deployed on premises, in colocation facilities, and in cloud environments.

This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone passionate about operational excellence, low-latency infrastructures, automation, and financial technology.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Reliability & Operations

• Ensure high availability and operational readiness of Horizon's managed trading platforms.

Automation & DevOps

• Develop and maintain automation solutions to reduce operational overhead.
• Automate provisioning, deployment, monitoring, and housekeeping tasks.
• Contribute to Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD initiatives.
• Improve operational efficiency and reliability through engineering best practices.
• Work closely with clients, vendors, and internal teams across multiple regions.
• Participate in daily operational meetings, project follow-ups, and service reviews.
• Promote best practices, operational excellence, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
• Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Contribute to audit and compliance activities where required.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

• Strong scripting skills using Bash and Python
• Strong experience with Git and source control best practices
• Experience with configuration management and automation tools such as Ansible
• Experience with Docker administration (or Kubernetes)
• Experience with Terraform, Jenkins or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools
• GitLab CI/CD or similar automation pipelines.
• Experience administering PostgreSQL or equivalent databases.
• Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog, or equivalent.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in trading, market connectivity, market data, or financial services environments.

Professional Experience

• 10+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, or Production Engineering.
• Experience supporting business-critical production environments.
• Experience working with distributed infrastructures where performance and availability are paramount.
• Experience working in a Follow-the-Sun support model.
• Fluent written and spoken English and Mandarin.

Preferred Experience

• Proxmox virtualization technologies.
• Solid networking knowledge, including:
• TCP/IP
• Routing
• VLANs
• Switches, routers, firewalls & VPNs: Cisco, Arista, pfSense or similar technologies
• Public cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS).
• Understanding of SOC2 or similar security frameworks.
• Agile delivery methodologies and Jira.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
