Job summary

Arup seeks a High Voltage Electrical Specialist to join its Hong Kong team. You will design HV systems, prepare technical docs, and perform calculations for power networks across large-scale infrastructure and buildings.

You will review drawings, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to feasibility studies, risk assessments, and client presentations. A consultancy background and CAD/BIM proficiency are desirable.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in electricity and electrical engineering principles, including high voltage systems.
• Proficiency in electrical design for power systems, including system studies, protection, and coordination.
• Knowledge of power generation and transmission, including grid connection and reliability considerations.
• Experience with electrical equipment selection and specification (e.g., transformers, switchgear, cables, protection devices).
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or building projects, ideally within a consultancy environment.
• Familiarity with relevant international and local electrical standards and regulations applicable in Hong Kong SAR.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, communicate technical concepts clearly, and engage with clients and stakeholders.
• Practical experience with design software and tools used for electrical analysis and drafting (e.g., power system modeling and CAD/BIM platforms).
• Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safe, sustainable, and high-quality design solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical designs for HV systems across infrastructure and buildings.
• Prepare technical documentation and calculations to support design approvals.
• Perform system calculations and simulations for power generation, transmission, and distribution networks.
• Select and specify electrical equipment (transformers, switchgear, cables, protection devices).
• Review drawings and schematics for accuracy and compliance with codes and standards.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure technical quality and timely delivery.
• Support project delivery from concept through construction stages.
• Participate in design reviews and provide input to feasibility studies and risk assessments.
• Deliver client presentations and communicate complex concepts clearly.
