Jobbeschreibung

YZi Labs is a global investment and incubation platform supporting founders and technologies that redefine how value moves across the internet. We invest in and help build companies across blockchain, AI, and biotech, with a capital structure that spans both equity and tokens.

We back ventures from early-stage to special situations, and operate with long-term alignment — combining capital with operational expertise. Our distributed team brings deep experience across private equity, crypto ventures, and institutional finance.

Role overview

We are hiring a Finance Senior Associate to support the Financial Controller / Senior Finance Manager across four areas: accounting and reporting, finance operations, financial analysis, and post-acquisition portfolio monitoring.

This is a hands-on, high-exposure role in a fast-moving environment. You will help keep the books accurate and on time across our international structure of SPVs and holding entities, keep cash and digital asset flows controlled and documented, and give management a clear view of how our portfolio companies perform after we invest, across both equity and token positions. It suits someone from audit, accounting, fund or investment operations, or transaction services who wants broad ownership in a lean team.

At Senior Associate level, you will work with a high degree of independence: owning deliverables end to end with minimal review, acting as a key contact for auditors and service providers, and guiding junior team members where needed.

Key responsibilities
1. Accounting and reporting
  • Maintain accurate books and records across group entities (SPVs, HoldCos), including journal entries, accruals and ledger maintenance in the accounting system
  • Own the monthly and quarterly close for assigned entities, including bank, custodian and wallet reconciliations, intercompany balances and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Account for equity investments (ordinary and preferred shares, SAFEs, convertible notes, warrants) and token positions: cost basis, fair value, impairments, and realised vs unrealised gains and losses
  • Prepare management accounts, schedules of investments and periodic reporting packs for management and stakeholders
  • Coordinate year-end statutory reporting and audits: prepare audit schedules and supporting documents, and act as the main contact for external accountants, auditors and tax advisers across jurisdictions
  • Draft accounting positions for new or complex transactions (e.g., convertible instruments, preferred shares, partial exits, token warrants)
2. Finance operations and controls
  • Review and process invoices, payment requests and expense claims in line with the approval matrix
  • Support investment closings: arrange funding of subscriptions, collect signed transaction documents, share certificates and updated cap tables, and record the investment
  • Prepare fiat and on-chain payment requests with full supporting documents and a clear approval trail
  • Track service-provider spend (fund administrators, corporate secretaries, legal, custody) and operating reserves by entity
  • Keep entity administration on track, including bank and custodian onboarding/KYC and statutory and compliance deadlines, working with corporate secretaries
  • Maintain and improve finance workflows, controls and process documentation, and look for ways to automate reconciliations and reporting
3. Financial analysis
  • Analyse portfolio returns and exposure (MOIC, IRR, realised vs unrealised value) by sector, stage, instrument and asset type
  • Support hold/exit reviews across the portfolio: position summaries, valuation and dilution analysis, exit waterfalls and liquidation preferences, and token price performance where relevant
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the investment team on financial due diligence for new deals when needed, such as reviewing financial statements, KPIs, cap tables and deal terms, and flagging key financial risks
  • Track portfolio companies after investment: collect and review monthly or quarterly financials, KPIs, board materials and investor updates, and flag performance, runway and other risks early
  • Maintain the portfolio tracker and investment records (cost, fully diluted ownership, instrument terms, valuation, realisations) and reconcile them to cap tables and share registers
  • Track follow-on rounds, SAFE and note conversions, dilution and changes in investor rights, and update investment records accordingly
  • Monitor post-deal rights and obligations: information and pro-rata rights, earn-outs and milestone payments, and, for token positions, delivery and vesting/unlock schedules
  • Follow up with portfolio companies on outstanding reporting, documentation and entitlements
  • Support quarterly fair value and impairment reviews (e.g., recent round pricing, comparables, milestone analysis), and prepare portfolio reporting for management
Must-have qualifications
  • 4–10 years of relevant experience in audit, accounting, fund or investment operations, or transaction services
  • Degree in accounting, finance or a related field; qualified ACCA, CPA, CA or equivalent preferred
  • Solid grasp of IFRS or US GAAP, including investment accounting and fair value measurement
  • Good understanding of venture and private equity instruments and terms: preferred shares, SAFEs, convertible notes, liquidation preferences and cap tables
  • Track record of owning month-end close, reconciliations and audit coordination, ideally across multiple entities
  • Excellent Excel / Google Sheets skills, including modelling, reconciliations and working with large datasets
  • Working knowledge of crypto wallets, exchanges and explorers; able to do on-chain checks and web3 research
  • Comfortable using AI tools to work faster, including writing simple scripts or queries with AI assistance
  • Detail-oriented, organised and able to work independently in a remote-first, high-autonomy team
  • Clear written and spoken English; experience working with internal teams and external advisers
Preferred background
  • Big 4 or mid-tier audit experience, ideally with investment fund or asset manager clients
  • Experience in venture capital, private equity, a family office or a fund administrator
  • Experience automating finance tasks with AI, such as building and using AI skills, agents or workflows (e.g., Claude, Codex or equivalents)
  • Experience with token accounting, digital asset custody or crypto fund operations
  • Exposure to offshore and multi-jurisdiction holding structures and SPV management
  • Familiarity with accounting systems (e.g., Xero, NetSuite) and portfolio or cap table tools (e.g., Carta)
  • Basic SQL, Python or Dune skills
What we offer
  • Remote-first culture with flexible hours and async collaboration
  • Exposure to frontier sectors: crypto, AI and biotech
  • High-trust environment with fast decision-making and direct ownership
  • Mentorship from experienced finance and investment professionals
  • Career progression within Finance, towards Finance Manager or Controller roles
  • Competitive compensation aligned with your experience and growth
