Job summary

Morgan Stanley is seeking a Data Governance Lead to drive governance execution across the PWM data landscape. You will coordinate governance activities with business data owners, technology teams and control functions to ensure data remains trusted and fit for purpose.

The role leads governance forums, oversees data quality and remediation, maintains the data landscape and aligns with enterprise policies and regulatory expectations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, Regulatory Reporting, Risk Management, or related disciplines.
• Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data ownership models, and data quality management.
• Proven experience leading governance forums, steering committees, or working groups.
• Experience managing remediation programs and coordinating cross-functional stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of data lineage, metadata, data catalog, and data control concepts.
• Excellent presentation, communication, and senior stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in Financial Services, Wealth Management, or Banking preferred.
• Familiarity with regulatory expectations relating to data governance and risk management.
• Experience with governance and reporting tools such as Power BI, Collibra, Alation, Snowflake, or similar platforms is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Data Governance Framework & Operating Model: Execute and continuously enhance governance framework; Drive adoption of standards, policies, and controls; Define governance processes and operating models; Align with enterprise standards and regulatory expectations; Promote ownership culture.
• Governance Committee Management: Organize quarterly Data Governance Committee meetings; Prepare governance materials, dashboards, and management reporting packs; Track governance actions, risks and remediation commitments; Facilitate cross-functional discussions; Provide updates to senior management.
• Data Landscape & Metadata Management: Maintain an inventory of data assets, reports, systems, and data flows; Coordinate reviews of landscape and domain coverage; Ensure ownership and accountability assignments remain current; Support data lineage and metadata management.
• Data Quality & Issue Management: Establish data quality metrics and KPIs; Coordinate end-to-end management of quality issues and exceptions; Track remediation plans; Drive root cause analysis and sustainable resolutions; Produce management reporting on trends.
• Regulatory & Risk Management: Support compliance with data-related regulatory requirements; Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal and Audit; Coordinate evidence for audits; Monitor governance impacts of new requirements; Ensure controls are documented.
• Stakeholder Management & Change Enablement: Act as primary governance liaison; Drive governance awareness and training; Facilitate working groups; Influence stakeholders to adopt governance best practices; Support transformation programs.
