Job summary

HTK, based in Hong Kong, seeks a Senior Data Engineering Manager to build scalable data infrastructure and BI platforms for Viu, a leading OTT service with millions of MAU and subscribers. You will lead a skilled team of software, infrastructure, and data professionals to support regional business needs.

You will shape a forward-looking data strategy, leverage AI and LLMs, ensure data quality, governance, and cost controls, and partner with analytics to deliver high-availability data services

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms, and team leadership.
• Degree holder, preferably in statistics, computer science, or related quantitative disciplines.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python with hands-on experience applying LLMs or agentic AI to engineering development.
• Track record of managing end-to-end data delivery from requirements gathering to L2 enquiry support.
• Expertise in data architecture, data modeling, and pipeline development using Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, or Kafka on AWS or GCP.
• Strong governance, data quality, cost control, and query performance optimization.
• Domain experience in OTT, digital marketing, e-commerce, CRM, MarTech, or AdTech is highly desired.
• Strong stakeholder management and team leadership in high-paced environments.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin.

We are looking for a professional to join our data management team for Viu, an OTT service based in Hong Kong. With over 66 million monthly active users (MAU) and 12 million paid subscribers, Viu is a leading pan-regional OTT video service with a presence across Asia, the Middle East, and South Africa.

As a Senior Data Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for building best-in-class data infrastructure, business intelligence, and analytics platforms. You will lead and collaborate with a highly skilled team of software, infrastructure, and data professionals to support regional business needs. This involves formulating, communicating, and executing a forward-looking data strategy that leverages industry best practices in AI and technology across all our markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Delivery and Lifecycle: Prioritize data requests and collaborate closely with technical, product, and analytics managers to translate business needs into scalable engineering deliverables. Oversee data development, data operations, and L2 data enquiry support.
• Data Engineering Management: Lead and manage the data engineering team, overseeing end-to-end technical solutions, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing monitoring.
• Data Product & AI-Driven: Drive data product development leveraging agentic AI and appropriate LLMs to streamline and improve the engineering and operational efficiency
• Data Quality & High Availability: Partner with Analytics team to enforce rigorous data quality standards, optimize system performance, and maintain high data services uptime.
• Governance & Efficiency: Monitor overall data usage and maintain clear guidelines to manage cost controls, security, access, query performance and pipeline efficiency

What you'll need to succeed
