Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Hong Kong seeks an experienced facilities technician to support 24/7 data center operations. You will monitor electrical and mechanical systems, perform routine readings, and respond to emergencies while coordinating with contractors and on-call teams.

The role requires a Diploma/Higher Diploma or Bachelor’s in Electrical/Mechanical/Building Services Engineering or related discipline, plus REW Grade A or above and safety certifications.

• Registered Electrical Worker (REW) Certificate, Grade A or above, required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergencies, troubleshoot facility equipment issues, participate in drills and on-call rotation.
• Arrange and supervise contractors and vendors to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.

Key job responsibilities

• Rotating shift work is required to maintain 24/7 operations coverage
• Monitor and operate electrical and mechanical equipment in the data center.
• Perform routine rounds and record daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment (e.g. temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.).
• Respond to emergencies, perform troubleshooting to resolve facility equipment issues, participate in emergency drills and on-call rotation, and report to site as required in support of facility emergency response per established protocols.
• Arrange and supervise contractors and vendors to ensure proper operation and maintenance of all facility equipment, and verify that the quality of work meets internal standards and requirements
• Provide guidance and training to junior technicians and new joiners
• Assist in develop, review and update the MOP/SOP to ensure compliance with internal standards

A day in the life

Also expected from the EOT is the ability to execute small-to-medium impacting projects from conception to completion. These projects involve moderate amounts of independent work as well as collaboration with external support groups including engineering, automation, processing, and finance in controlled environments. The EOT will be tasked with creating and delivering key milestones, obtaining and tracking quotes for all necessary costs, and documenting project results. The goals of such projects are to drive innovation and resiliency while reducing operational costs in the facilities.

24 x 7 DCEO Leased/Owned EOT model implementation

A Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline is typically required.

5+ years of electrical or mechanical practical and technical experience

A valid Registered Electrical Worker (REW) Certificate, Grade A or above

A valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card) and a Construction Workers Registration Card are required.

Work on a rotating shift to maintain 24/7 operations coverage.

Able to independently operate, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical and mechanical systems, and interpret technical documents and drawings.

Demonstrated experience in utilizing BMS and EPMS control systems

Basic proficiency in computer software applications, including operating systems (e.g., Windows / Linux) and the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred qualifications

• Higher Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Mechanical, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline
• 2+ years of experience in Data Center operation & maintenance
• A valid Registered Electrical Worker (REW) Certificate, Grade B or above
