Purpose of the Role

To provide high-quality classroom instruction and supervision during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring continuity of learning and maintaining a positive learning environment for students.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver lessons according to lesson plans, schemes of work, and instructions provided by the regular teacher or department.

• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment.

• Ensure effective classroom management and uphold school expectations regarding student behaviour.

• Support students' learning and engagement during the teacher's absence.

• Monitor student attendance and maintain appropriate records as required.

• Assess and provide feedback on student work when requested.

• Collaborate with departmental colleagues and relevant staff to ensure smooth continuity of learning.

• Follow all school policies, procedures, safeguarding, and child protection requirements.

• Attend staff briefings or meetings where appropriate during the period of cover.

• Undertake other reasonable duties related to the provision of short-term teaching cover.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

• A recognised bachelor's degree in a relevant subject area.
• Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, PGDE, B.Ed. or equivalent).
• Relevant teaching experience at secondary school level.
• Excellent classroom management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Eligibility to work in Hong Kong.

Preferred:

• Experience teaching international curricula (IB, IGCSE, A-Level, AP or equivalent).
• Experience in an international school environment.
• Ability to teach more than one subject area.
• Familiarity with online learning platforms and educational technology.

Working Arrangement

• Casual / ad-hoc appointments based on operational needs.

• Working hours will generally follow the school's normal timetable during the period of engagement.
• Remuneration will be based on the approved daily or hourly supply teacher rate.
