HashKey Capital is seeking a highly experienced and commercially grounded Risk Director to lead the end-to-end product risk control framework across our full spectrum of investment strategies, while spearheading the end-to-end regulatory compliance and authorization workflows for our various fund vehicles.
This role requires a multi-asset risk leader ideally with deep, front-line market risk control experience spanning public funds (such as digital asset ETFs), private funds (liquid hedge funds/DMA strategies), and structured products. In parallel, the position demands comprehensive, senior-level regulatory acumen regarding Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) rules governing public collective investment schemes.
You will act as both a vigilant gatekeeper and a practical enabler: overseeing real-time product risk parameters, liquidity buffers, and counterparty exposure across private and structured mandates, while driving public fund applications, regulatory approvals, and ongoing compliance under strict SFC oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and manage front-line product risk controls, including daily creation/redemption flows, in-kind/cash basket integrity, premium/discount spread volatility, tracking error thresholds, and market maker quoting obligations.
- Supervise leverage utilization, portfolio concentration limits, drawdown triggers, short exposure, dynamic de-risking protocols, and liquidity terms for open-end private hedge funds.
- Design risk assessment models and stress-testing protocols for non-linear payoffs, derivative overlays (options, synthetic replication, basis arbitrage), barrier breach probabilities, and tail-risk event mitigation.
- Spearhead the preparation, submission, and regulatory defense of new public fund applications under the SFC Code on Unit Trusts and Mutual Funds (UT Code), proactively anticipating and addressing regulator concerns
- Serve as the internal authority on the interpretation and practical implementation of SFC regulatory codes, circulars on virtual asset public funds/ETFs, the Fund Manager Code of Conduct (FMCC), and SFO Type 9 virtual asset conditions.
- Oversee the drafting, technical compliance, and ongoing updates of Product Key Facts Statements (KFS), offering circulars, constitutive documents, and post-authorization notifications.
- Participate in direct engagements with the regulatory counterparties, trustees, custodians, on all product risk, structuring, and compliance matters.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or above in Finance, Risk Management, Law, Quantitative Finance, or a related discipline. FRM, CFA, or formal legal/compliance certifications are strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of combined experience across risk management and compliance within regulated asset management environments or tier-1 financial institutions.
- 6+ years of direct public fund/ETF risk experience. Verifiable track record in managing front-line product risk and steering public ETF authorization/compliance processes.
- Demonstrated hands-on competence managing risk across multiple vehicle types - spanning public mutual funds/ETFs, private hedge funds, direct market access (DMA) strategies, and structured derivative products. Practical understanding of digital asset market microstructure would be a plus.
- Familiarity with Hong Kong Open-ended Fund Companies (OFC), close-ended funds, unit trust deeds, offshore private structures (e.g., Cayman SPCs), and HKEX listing mechanisms.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills in English and Chinese; proven ability to liaise credibly with regulatory case officers and internal portfolio managers alike.
