Job summary

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking Research Assistant(s) to support clinical and translational eye health studies. You will assist with ophthalmic investigations in labs and clinics, contribute to data analysis and database development, and help with outreach efforts.

Description

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, working with more than 200 ophthalmologists and visual scientists in Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland , is committed to advancing patient service, research, and training and education to the highest quality in all major areas of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. We are also dedicated to worthwhile community programs and public education projects. The Department, always “in search of excellence”, is looking for candidates to take up positions in our clinical and research (academic, community and translational) programs involving ophthalmic investigations, public education, out-reach, and ophthalmic studies on eyes diseases including Thyroid Eye Disease, COVID-19, IgG4 disease, etc. We are highly committed to supporting career development of all staff members.

Applicants should have/be

• (i) a Bachelor’s degree or above;
• (ii) good written and oral communication skills in Cantonese, English and Chinese;
• (iii) considerable knowledge and understanding of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the field of clinical research;
• and (vi) responsible, mature, an effective, energetic, resourceful and forward-looking work attitude and good team spirit at work.

The appointee(s) will be responsible for

• (a) carrying out ophthalmic investigations in laboratories and clinics;
• (b) supporting database development and data analysis in eye health care and research projects;
• (c) supporting outreach activities;
• and (d) performing other duties as assigned.

Work on public holidays and weekends as required. On-the-job training will be provided where appropriate.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one year, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
