About the Opportunity

A top-tier multi-strategy hedge fund is seeking an exceptional Production Engineer to become the operational backbone of their global trading infrastructure. In this role, you will own system reliability for a mission-critical, low-latency trading platform—the kind that executes billions in daily positions and cannot afford downtime.

This is not a reactive support ticket role. You will be a strategic partner to trading and engineering teams, anticipating failures, automating toil away, and building observability that enables the business to move faster with confidence. What You’ll Own

• Drive operational excellence for the firm's global trading platform through obsessive attention to system health and proactive risk mitigation
• Own production incident response—triage, resolution, communication, and coordination across trading, development, and infrastructure teams. You'll be the calm operator who gets things resolved when markets are live
• Build and maintain comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and observability infrastructure that surfaces issues before they impact trading. Design dashboards that tell the real story of system behavior
• Investigate trading issues and platform anomalies at the systems level—understanding how the platform behaves under stress and why things fail the way they do
• Automate the repetitive, error‑prone operational work. Build runbooks, playbooks, and tools that enable the team to operate confidently at scale
• Partner with front‑office traders to resolve time‑sensitive production problems and improve platform usability from the user perspective
• Conduct rigorous root cause analysis on platform failures, identifying systemic weaknesses and driving architectural improvements that prevent recurrence

Your Profile

• Proven track record in production engineering, SRE, or on‑call support for business‑critical systems in high‑stakes environments (trading, fintech, or equivalent)
• Deep hands‑on experience supporting real‑time trading platforms or similarly latency‑sensitive systems; you understand what "low‑latency" actually means operationally
• Expert‑level troubleshooting across applications, systems, and networks in Linux environments. You can trace issues from business symptom to root cause
• Mastery of monitoring, observability, and alerting—you've built dashboards that matter and alert strategies that actually work
• Operational discipline and precision; you document decisions, follow processes, and maintain institutional knowledge. Details matter because details prevent fires
• Ownership mentality under pressure; when things break at 3 AM, you're energized—not drained. You drive incidents to resolution and own the outcome
• Strong communication and partnership skills; you translate technical complexity for business stakeholders and collaborate effectively with traders, engineers, and ops teams
• Relentless focus on automation and leverage; you identify toil and build tools to reduce manual work. You're motivated by systems thinking, not firefighting
