Job summary

West Kowloon Cultural District Authority seeks a creative, collaborative Video Producer to lead editorial video production for M+ Magazine and digital channels. You will craft briefs and scripts, manage shoots on site and off-site, and coordinate with artists, editors and translators to deliver engaging content.

You will drive storytelling from concept to final cut, mentor external producers, and ensure accessibility and branding standards across all outputs.

Qualifications

• University degree in creative media, multimedia production, web design or equivalent.
• 6–10 years of experience in video production.
• Ability to shepherd a story from concept to final product including writing, shooting and post-production.
• Willingness to experiment with new video storytelling formats for social media.
• Strong organisation and communication skills for collaborative work.
• Proficiency with Adobe CC, Final Cut Pro and related tools; knowledge of lighting and DSLRs.

The museum’s Digital Content and Initiatives (DCI) team in the M+ Curatorial Department seeks a creative, collaborative, highly organised video producer. Reporting to the Senior Producer, Digital Content, the Producer, Digital Programme (Video) will work closely with multiple departments across the museum to drive, create and produce editorially driven videos for publication on M+ Magazine, social media channels, gallery and exhibition spaces, and other public-facing touchpoints.

You will be responsible for:

• producing high-quality videos and short-documentary features that highlight artists, makers and objects from the M+ Collections, behind-the-scenes museum activities, and visual culture more broadly for a range of digital platforms, interactive products, programmes and projects;
• developing video production briefs, scripts and project scope documents for video development, and guiding and collaborating with external videographers and production houses;
• overseeing filming sessions on-site and on location;
• managing project budgets, schedules, deadlines and deliverables;
• drafting project documentation as needed for the procurement of third-party service providers;
• coordinating with artists, third-party videographers, editors, translators, transcription services, animators and other video-related service providers, to communicate schedules, deliverables, deadlines and revisions;
• contributing to rights clearance for media and other content appearing in videos;
• collaborating with and liaising between different teams within M+ and the West Kowloon Cultural District, including rights management, legal, museum operations, marketing and curatorial colleagues;
• helping to measure and improve the performance of digital videos and video concepts through the use of data analytics;
• overseeing the application of M+ and WKCDA standards regarding accessibility, subtitling and branding;
• keeping abreast of trends in video-related technology in order to innovate, experiment with and pilot new directions in the museum’s digital programme;
• contributing to the development of a dynamic, editorially driven video programme, including the strategic development of video within the museum;
• performing any other duties as supervisor may direct when necessary; and
• Perform any other duties from time to time as reasonably assigned by M+.

You should:

• possess a recognised university degree in creative media, multimedia production, web design, video production or equivalent;
• have 6-10 years of experience in video production;
• be familiar with seeing a story through from idea to final product, including concept and story development, writing, shooting and post-production;
• have demonstrated the ability to lead creative thinking on concepts for video-based social media content and be willing to experiment with new video-based storytelling formats to help the museum reach new audiences;
• possess strong organisation and communication skills and an ability to work well in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team;
• be proficient in digital media software tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Adobe After Effects CC, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop and Illustrator, and have a working understanding of digital audio workstations;
• have experience with lighting and shooting on DSLRs and other HD cameras;
• be fluent in English and Cantonese, and/or Mandarin;
• possess strong research and storytelling skills, and an ability to develop video-related content across various platforms, devices and outputs; and
• ideally have experience producing high-quality video outputs related to arts and culture, possess excellent communication and project management skills, be comfortable working with industry-standard tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud and have experience in managing third-party video content producers.
