Job summary

Hospital Authority invites applications for a Physiotherapy Assistant (Patient Care Assistant II) in the Hong Kong Island Cluster, Queen Mary Hospital, Department of Physiotherapy. The post supports physiotherapists, assists in therapy preparation and patient care, and requires training completion and relevant certificates.

Applicants should be able to work weekends and public holidays. Fluency in Cantonese with English and Mandarin ability is preferred, along with basic MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Completed F.5 / S.5 or equivalent.
• Completed the structured departmental training.
• Possess Health Care Assistant Training / Care-related Support Workers Certificate.
• Possess working experience in physiotherapy field.
• Care for patients and attend to their needs and comfort.
• Interest to serve and communicate with patients.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently under pressure.
• Fluent in Cantonese; able to speak English and Mandarin.
• Possess Physiotherapy Assistant certificate or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Assist physiotherapists in preparing patients for therapies.
• Carry out simple physiotherapy treatment under direct supervision.
• Care for patients and attend to their needs and comfort.
• Check and observe the general condition of patients.
• Relieve physiotherapists by providing technical assistance and observation.
• Maintain equipment by daily cleansing and checks.
• Observe infection control and safety measures.
• Escort patients between wards and physiotherapy locations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by physiotherapists.
• Provide service during weekends, Sundays and Public Holidays.

Up to 5% of total basic salary as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist physiotherapists in preparing patients to undergo therapies.
• Carry out simple physiotherapy treatment under direct supervision of physiotherapists at various physiotherapy locations, in wards and in the community as required.
• Care for patients and attend to their needs and comfort.
• Check and observe the general condition of patients.
• Relieve physiotherapists by providing technical assistance and observation for patients during treatment procedures.
• Maintain equipment by daily cleansing and routine checks on normal functioning.
• Carry out and attend to infection control and safety measures as instructed by physiotherapists
• Escort patients to travel between wards and different physiotherapy locations.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by physiotherapists
• Provide service during weekends, Sunday and Public Holiday.

Entry Requirements:

• Completed F.5 / S.5 or equivalent; AND
• Completed the structured departmental training (See Remarks).
• Possess recognized Health Care Assistant Training / Care-related Support Workers Certificate.
• Possess working experience in physiotherapy field
• Care for patients and attend to their needs and comfort.
• Interest to serve and communicate with patients.
• Good PC skills & knowledge in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and other MS Office applications.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently under pressure.
• Fluent in spoken Cantonese and ability to speak English and Mandarin.
• Possess Physiotherapy Assistant certificate or related discipline.
• Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements (2), if found suitable, will be employed to undergo at least 6 months’ on the job training including the structured departmental training. Employment may be terminated if the selected applicant cannot pass the assessment after training.
