Job summary

Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Chai Wan) invites applications for an Assistant Lecturer in Health and Life Sciences within the Department of Health and Life Sciences. The role involves teaching, supervising student projects and fieldwork, and contributing to curriculum development.

Applicants should hold a degree in Applied Science / Health and Life Sciences, with 3+ years’ teaching or industry experience in Beauty / Cosmetic Science, and strong English/Chinese communication

Major Duties

• (a) To perform teaching duties including supervision of students' projects and fieldwork placement;
• (b) To carry out duties in relation to student and academic administration;
• (c) To update and develop programme curriculum and teaching, learning and assessment materials; and
• (d) To participate in departmental projects and functions, including but not limited to consultancy services, research studies, seminars and exhibitions.

Requirements

• (a) A recognised degree in Applied Science / Health and Life Sciences, or equivalent, preferably with post-graduate qualifications;
• (b) At least 3 years’ relevant teaching and/or industry experience in Beauty / Cosmetic Science;
• (c) Good communication and presentation skills in both English and Chinese; and
• (d) Good records of linkage with the industry would be an advantage.

Notes

• (1) Candidates with less experience may be considered for the post of “Part-time (Daytime / Evening) Assistant Lecturer” at the rank of Teaching Associate.
• (2) Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic / professional qualifications OR those with exceptional academic / professional qualifications but with less experience may also apply.
• (3) Shortlisted candidates will be required to take a written assessment.
• (4) The appointee(s) may be required to perform duties outside normal office hours and/or outside campus.
