Job summary

Leadingnation in Hong Kong is seeking a highly skilled laser R&D fellow to advance photonic quantum chip technologies. The role focuses on stabilizing laser sources and optimizing nonlinear processes for high-fidelity entangled light generation.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team to solve coupling, alignment and thermal challenges, and to build test benches that rigorously characterize lasers and frequency conversion systems.

Qualifications

• Master's or higher in Optics/Photonics; PhD preferred.
• 3+ years in laser R&D or nonlinear optics with independent optical-system build experience.
• Deep knowledge of laser physics, stabilization (PDH), mode-locking, and nonlinear optics.
• Ability to solve complex experimental problems; teamwork and English reading.
• Plus: quantum light sources, frequency combs, fiber amplifiers, chip packaging.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• 1. Select, drive and frequency-stabilize laser sources (narrow-linewidth / tunable / mode-locked) to supply pump and signal light for photonic quantum chips.
• 2. Lead design & optimization of nonlinear processes (SPDC, FWM, SHG) to improve entangled-source / squeezed-state generation and frequency-conversion efficiency.
• 3. Define laser-chip coupling schemes (fiber / facet / grating) with the chip team; solve alignment, mode-matching and thermal issues.
• 4. Build precision optical test benches; characterize lasers and nonlinear processes; resolve system noise and parasitic effects.

Requirements

• 1. Master's or above (PhD preferred) in Optics, Physics, Photonics, or related.
• 2. 3+ years in laser R&D or nonlinear optics with independent optical-system build experience.
• 3. Deep knowledge of laser physics & stabilization (e.g. PDH), mode-locking; nonlinear optics & quasi-phase-matching; fiber/spatial coupling, polarization control, weak-signal detection; Zemax/OpticStudio or Python/MATLAB/LabVIEW.
• 4. Ability to solve complex experimental problems; teamwork and English literature reading.
• 5. Plus: quantum light sources (entanglement / single-photon), optical frequency combs; fiber amplifiers / high-power lasers; chip packaging & opto-mechanical integration.
