Job summary

AXA Hong Kong and Macau is seeking an experienced sanctions and AML compliance professional to develop and maintain policies, monitor regulatory updates, and ensure a robust compliance framework across the organization.

You will conduct risk assessments, prepare STRs, oversee screening, train staff, and coordinate with regulators and auditors, leveraging AI/data analytics tools where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, Business or related discipline.
  • Min 5 years AML/sanctions compliance experience in financial institutions, Insurance preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of AML/sanctions regulatory requirements incl. Insurance Authority and AMCM.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, problem-solving abilities.
  • Good project management, communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office; fluent English and Chinese.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, able to work independently and in a team.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Experience with AI/data analytics tools and Power BI is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Group, regulators and auditors during inspections.
  • Maintain compliance documentation and remediation follow-ups.
  • Support automated compliance monitoring systems and emerging threats.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain sanctions, AML, and financial crime compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to relevant regulations and industry best practices.
  • Monitor and analyze regulatory updates and sanctions lists from global authorities to ensure the organization's compliance framework remains current and effective.
  • Conduct risk assessments and due diligence on clients, transactions, and third parties to identify potential sanctions breaches and financial crime risks.
  • Prepare Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) for MLRO review, and reports for management, Group, and regulators.
  • Implement and oversee screening processes using compliance tools to detect and prevent sanctioned entities or individuals from engaging with the organization.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on sanctions, AML, and financial crime compliance requirements, fostering a strong compliance culture.
  • Conduct internal reviews and investigations related to sanctions violations, suspicious activities, high risk customers and other financial crimes, reporting findings to senior management and regulators as needed.
  • Coordinate with Group, regulatory authorities and external auditors during inspections, ensuring timely and accurate responses to compliance inquiries. Monitor remediation of compliance issues and follow up until closure.
  • Maintain and update the organization's compliance documentation to reflect changes in laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Support the development and implementation of automated compliance monitoring systems to enhance detection and reporting capabilities.
  • Stay informed on emerging threats and trends in sanctions evasion, AML, and financial crime, advising the organization on proactive risk mitigation strategies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of AML and/or sanctions compliance experience within financial institutions, preferably in the insurance sector.
  • Sound knowledge of AML and sanctions regulatory requirements, including those issued by the Insurance Authority and AMCM.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good project management, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with strong written and spoken English and Chinese.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Experience with AI/data analytics tools and Power BI would be an advantage.
