Job summary

BASELINE Lighting Design Studio in Hong Kong is seeking a dedicated Lighting Designer to join our international team working on luxury retail and high-end hospitality projects. You will develop lighting concepts, contribute to design presentations, and produce detailed drawings and specifications under the guidance of senior designers.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Lighting Design and Architectural Lighting.
  • Familiarity with Lighting Control systems for retail and hospitality.
  • Understanding of Interior Design principles and how lighting supports spatial and brand experiences.
  • Proficiency with lighting design tools (DIALux, Relux, AGi32) and CAD/BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Awareness of sustainable lighting practices and green building standards (LEED or equivalent).
  • Bachelor's degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Good communication skills in English; proficiency in French, Chinese or other Asian languages is an advantage.
  • Ability to work on-site in Hong Kong and perform occasional regional travel.

Responsibilities

  • Develop lighting concepts and contribute to design presentations under the guidance of senior team members
  • Produce detail drawings, specifications, and presentations
  • Responsible for lighting drawings using CAD and hand sketches, including plans, elevations, sections, and details
  • Prepare lighting documentation (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) across all design phases, including tender packages
  • Conduct lighting simulations using Dialux Evo or similar software to validate design proposals
  • Produce or edit 3D renderings to visually communicate design intent
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, interior designers, and project managers
  • Understand the design intention from team and client
  • Promote lighting design concepts to the team and client
  • Conduct site visits to oversee installation and ensure design integrity, including lighting audits of existing stores/spaces when needed
  • Inspect site lighting installation and details to meet design intention
  • Ensure lighting designs meet required illumination levels and comply with relevant standards
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and sustainable practices; understand sustainable project standards and requirements
  • Maintain awareness of lighting fixtures and control systems suitable for various design intents
  • Research and specify lighting products/solutions aligned with project goals and budgets
  • Record daily work hours in the company's Time Tracker System with required details
  • Review self-performance against project budget
  • Assist manager on project invoice status and issue invoices

Founded by a French lighting designer, the studio combines creativity and pragmatism to craft emotions through lighting that enhances atmosphere and customer experience.

Based in Asia, BASELINE supports international clients from concept through implementation, aligning with brand guidelines and project budgets. The team provides lighting design and engineering consultancy for architects, interior designers, developers, contractors, and global brands.

As sustainable lighting experts with EcoVadis Silver certification and LEED Green Associates, Baseline integrates environmental best practices into every project, including advanced decorative lighting engineering.

I. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop lighting concepts and contribute to design presentations under the guidance of senior team members

2- Project Coordination & Project Management
  • Collaborate with senior designers (internal) and project managers (external) to support project development
  • Attend internal and external project meetings to follow up on lighting-related tasks
  • Coordinate with consultants and suppliers to gather technical information and samples
  • Assist in preparing lighting budget estimation and technical documentation for tender stages
  • Communicate with contractors and clients during the construction phase
3- Quality & Process
  • Follow company standards for lighting design documentation and quality assurance
  • Ensure deliverables are organized and submitted in accordance with project timelines
  • Assist in maintaining design documentation and ensuring consistency across project stages
  • Act as a company representative for fostering effective collaboration across client and team relationships
II. Qualifications
