Job summary

Shangri-La Group in Hong Kong seeks a proactive Lift & Escalator Specialist to oversee the safe operation of lifts and escalators within the hotel. You will act as the main liaison between the hotel and maintenance contractors to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

Candidates should hold EMSD-recognized Lift and/or Escalator Engineer certification, have relevant maintenance or contractor management experience, and be familiar with safety standards and external service providers.

Qualifications

• Registered Lift and/or Escalator Engineer certification recognized by EMSD.
• Experience in lift/escalator maintenance or contractor management.
• Knowledge of safety standards and statutory requirements.
• Experience with external service providers.
• Diploma or certificate in a related discipline preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor lift/elevator performance and condition daily.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, and certifications.
• Liaise with contractors to ensure safety and service standards.
• Investigate equipment issues and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain statutory records, permits and compliance docs.
• Support upgrades and modernization projects.
• Prepare maintenance reports and monitor reliability.

About The Role

We are seeking a proactive Lift & Escalator Specialist to oversee the safe and reliable operation of all lifts, escalators, and related equipment within the hotel. The role serves as the key liaison between the hotel and maintenance contractors to ensure all systems are properly maintained and compliant with statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor daily performance and condition of lifts, escalators, and related systems.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, and certifications.
• Liaise with contractors and ensure maintenance works meet safety and service standards.
• Investigate equipment issues and follow up on corrective actions.
• Maintain statutory records, permits, and compliance documentation.
• Support equipment upgrades, modernization projects, and budgeting activities.
• Prepare maintenance reports and monitor equipment reliability.

About You

• Must possess the appropriate Registered Lift and/or Escalator Engineer certification recognized by EMSD and be legally authorized to perform lift and escalator engineering works in Hong Kong
• Relevant experience in lift and escalator maintenance, operations, or contractor management.
• Knowledge or experience with Schindler systems is an advantage.
• Diploma or Certificate in a related discipline preferred.
• Strong knowledge of lift and escalator systems, safety standards, and statutory requirements.
• Experience working with external service providers and contractors.
• Good troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
