Job summary

Leadingnation in Hong Kong invites applications for a Lecturer in the Department of Chinese Literature. The appointee will teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and contribute to curriculum development.

Candidates should hold a PhD in linguistics or related field with specialism in SLA/theoretical linguistics/sociolinguistics, and be able to teach English-assisted courses. PSC level 1-B or above is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Undertake teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
• Undertake duties in course/ programme/ curriculum review and development;
• Perform academic and administrative duties; and
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his delegate.

Requirements

• PhD in linguistics, applied linguistics, Chinese studies or a related field but preference will be given to candidates with background in linguistics or applied linguistics;
• Specialty in second language acquisition / theoretical linguistics / sociolinguistics;
• Having attained level 1-B or above in Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi (PSC), or holding Certificate of Qualified Provincial (or above) Examiner for PSC;
• Preference will be given to those with capacity for English-assisted teaching;
• Capacity to teach the following courses:

1. Second Language Acquisition,
2. Language Policy and Language use,
3. Design of Courses and Textbooks / Information Technology and Chinese Language Teaching,
4. Topics in SLA and Teaching Chinese, and
5. Chinese Literature- or History-related courses.
