Job summary

Ekimetrics, a global leader in Data Science & AI solutions, is seeking a motivated Junior Software Engineer in Hong Kong to join our team and contribute to AI, data projects, and client engagements.

You will work on modern cloud and data technologies (Python, Azure, Databricks, LLMs), develop web applications, and collaborate with clients to explain technical concepts clearly. This role offers a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment with exposure to live projects.

Qualifications

• Fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English; strong communication across stakeholders.
• 2–4 years of hands-on software development experience.
• Experience shipping working software, not just prototypes.
• Practical AI tools understanding and ability to build simple AI-powered features.
• Able to explain technical concepts clearly to non-engineering stakeholders.
• Full-time availability (5 days per week).

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities

We are looking for a motivated Junior Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to a range of software engineering, AI, and data projects across clients.

The role provides exposure to modern cloud and data technologies, including Python, Azure, Databricks, LLMs, machine learning pipelines, data engineering, APIs, and web application development.

The ideal candidate enjoys learning new technologies, can work across software and data-related tasks, and is interested in building practical AI/GenAI applications and data solutions.

The key objective is to support the team in hands-on software development and client communication on tech topics. Work on live engagements (e.g. Yusen, Toppan) end-to-end: implementation, demos, and technical discussions.

What you will do:

• Design and implement features using modern web / application stacks.
• Build AI-enabled features (chat, OCR automation, assistants, etc.) when needed.
• Contribute to data/cloud work (Python, Azure, Databricks, APIs, ML/GenAI pipelines).
• Deploy and maintain working applications.
• Join standups, planning, and client-facing tech conversations.
• Document work clearly; collaborate closely with the technical team.

Your profile

• Language Skills: Fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English, both spoken and written.
• Location: Based in Hong Kong or able to work in Hong Kong.
• Experience: Preferably 2 to 4 years of hands-on software development experience.
• Core Skills: Modern web apps; shipping working software, not only prototypes.
• AI Fluency: Practical understanding and application of AI tools and the ability to build simple AI-powered product features.
• Communication Skills: Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-engineering stakeholders.
• Working Style: Demonstrates ownership and a strong client-delivery mindset.
• Working Schedule: Available to work full-time (5 days per week).

Nice to have:

• TypeScript/React/Next.js or equivalent;
• Node/Python backend and cloud deploy;
• Azure, Databricks, data engineering, or ML pipelines;
• LLMs/OCR/chatbots;
• Consulting or multi-client delivery;
