Nodex Intelligence in Hong Kong is seeking a software engineer to maintain and expand its data platform, ingesting, cleaning, storing market data, and supporting the trading team.
You will take end-to-end ownership of what you deploy, work with the Head of Research and Technology, and build tools to improve workflows for researchers and traders.
With a focus on reliability, you will handle deployments, disaster recovery drills, and runbooks to keep systems resilient.
Nodex Intelligence is a new Hong Kong trading firm. We trade our own capital in US and Hong Kong stocks, and commodity futures, using systematic strategies built from data, statistics and AI. The team is small, and the platform underneath it is our own.
Our platform ingests, cleans, and stores market data 24/7, executes research and backtesting, and supports the trading team. You will be responsible for maintaining platform stability, assisting in its expansion, and taking end-to-end ownership of what you deploy to production. You will work directly with the Head of Research and Technology.
Maintain the health of data feeds, real-time market data ingestors, and servers. Diagnose and resolve issues when vendor APIs change or data feeds drop.
Follow existing platform architecture guidelines to add new data sources, exchanges, and markets—from clear requirements to writing unit tests, passing code review, and deploying to production.
Handle deployments, backups, upgrades, and monitoring; refine alerting configurations to ensure alerts only trigger for actionable issues.
Conduct regular disaster recovery drills (e.g., handling network drops, data latency, server reboots), documenting system behaviors and resolution procedures.
Keep runbooks up to date so any team member can handle common operational incidents.
Build productivity tools to streamline workflows for research and trading teams.
Up to 2 years of experience as a software engineer, or a strong Computer Science/Engineering degree with a portfolio of hands-on projects.
Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Linux (daily working knowledge), with familiarity in Git and sufficient Docker skills to build and run services.
Experience integrating with APIs (including WebSocket streams) and handling edge cases resiliently (e.g., timeouts, rate limits, automatic reconnection).
Habitual use of AI coding tools like Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor, combined with a strict habit of reviewing and testing AI-generated code rather than blindly trusting it.
A calm, methodical approach to debugging, with a firm commitment to finding the root cause before modifying any code.
A genuine interest in financial markets and trading (prior industry experience is not required).
