Job summary

A junior regulatory lawyer role in Hong Kong focusing on financial services regulation and SFC compliance is available at an established law firm. The position targets NQ to 2 PQE and offers exposure to investigations, regulatory advisory work, and high-profile matters.

Reporting to a Senior Partner, you will draft and review regulatory documents, conduct legal research, and collaborate with the team on broader commercial matters within Hong Kong's financial regulatory sector.

Qualifications

• Admitted (or soon to be admitted) as a solicitor in Hong Kong (NQ to 2 years PQE).
• Open to 2026 Qualifying Trainees completing their training contracts with strong regulatory or litigation seats.
• Prior experience or a strong demonstrated interest in financial services regulation, SFC compliance, or contentious regulatory work.
• Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills in English.
• Professional fluency in written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist in advising financial institutions, brokerages, and corporate clients on SFC and HKMA regulatory compliance.
• Support partners on contentious regulatory matters, including SFC investigations, enquiries, and disciplinary proceedings.
• Draft and review regulatory policies, client disclosures, licensing applications, and compliance documentation.
• Conduct legal research on emerging financial regulations, fintech standards, and enforcement trends.
• Report directly to the leading Regulatory Partner while collaborating closely with team members across broader commercial matters.
