Job summary

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing is seeking a Senior Java Developer to lead the strategic replacement of a legacy clearing platform. You will design, develop, and deliver robust, cloud-native Java microservices and integration services that enable secure, high-volume data exchange across clearing and post-trade systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering with lead involvement on a production-grade platform in financial services or a regulated industry.
• Proven experience designing and developing microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong hands-on experience with Apache Kafka for event-driven architectures and stream processing.
• Experience deploying containerised applications on OpenShift, Kubernetes, or similar platforms.
• Experience building and supporting RESTful APIs and integration services in complex enterprise environments.
• Knowledge of cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, scalability, resilience, and fault tolerance.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Bamboo or ArgoCD; proficient with Git/Bitbucket.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based microservices to support the replacement of the legacy clearing platform.
• Build interfaces and APIs for secure, reliable, high-volume integration across clearing, settlement, and downstream systems.
• Develop event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka for near real-time processing.
• Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot containerised applications on OpenShift.
• Collaborate with architects and leads to implement target-state architectures aligned with cloud-native principles.
• Participate in full SDLC including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Create and maintain RESTful APIs and service contracts with scalability and security in mind.
• Write clean, testable code and promote best practices; develop automated tests and support CI/CD.
