Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years' pan-Asian strategic sourcing experience.
• Senior leadership experience across multi-country, multi-functional sourcing, supply chain, quality, ESG or product teams.
• Proven track record of building, scaling or transforming a regional sourcing operation, including team design, infrastructure, process and governance.
• Fluent English is required; additional Asian language capability would be advantageous.
• Hands-on, entrepreneurial leadership style with strong executive presence.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the Asia sourcing platform, establishing regional processes, governance and compliance frameworks.
• Design and execute a resilient multi-country sourcing strategy across Asia, balancing cost, quality, speed, risk and supplier capability.
• Oversee supplier base development, negotiations, cost-out programmes and category initiatives across direct and agency-sourced product.
• Partner with international commercial, product and trading teams to translate priorities into factory-ready sourcing plans and manage critical path from concept to FOB handover.
• Provide senior regional leadership, influence stakeholders, and manage external partners to align with KPIs and strategic objectives.

We are representing a well-established international retail group seeking a senior sourcing leader to establish, scale and lead its Asia-based sourcing capability from Hong Kong.

This is a rare build-from-scratch leadership opportunity for a senior sourcing executive with the credibility, commercial judgement and operational discipline to create a scalable regional platform and deliver measurable value across cost, quality, speed and supplier performance.

The role will suit a hands-on, entrepreneurial leader with deep Asian sourcing experience, strong executive presence and a proven track record of building high-performing regional teams.

Key responsibilities

Build and lead the Asia sourcing platform

• Establish the regional sourcing operation, including operating processes, governance, infrastructure and local compliance frameworks.
• Create the regional operating model, organisational structure and governance required to support growth across Asia.
• Recruit, onboard and develop a regional team across sourcing, operations, quality, compliance, supply chain and business support functions.

Drive sourcing strategy and supplier performance

• Design and execute a resilient multi-country sourcing strategy across Asia, balancing cost, quality, speed, risk and supplier capability.
• Build and optimise an approved supplier base capable of supporting a fast-moving, multi-category retail model.
• Lead supplier negotiations, category sourcing initiatives, spend analysis and cost-out programmes across direct and agency-sourced product.

Ensure operational excellence

• Partner closely with international commercial, product and trading teams to translate business priorities into factory-ready sourcing plans.
• Oversee critical path management from product concept and prototype through to FOB handover.
• Drive quality, technical, ethical and ESG compliance across the regional supplier base, ensuring products are safe, legal, fit for purpose and aligned with relevant international standards.

Provide senior regional leadership

• Lead a diverse, multicultural regional team and foster a high-performance, pragmatic and commercially focused culture.
• Influence senior stakeholders across multiple regions, providing clear insight, challenge and direction on sourcing strategy and execution.
• Manage external partners where required and ensure alignment with sourcing strategy, KPIs and commercial objectives.
• Minimum 10 years' pan-Asian strategic sourcing experience, ideally gained within a high-volume retail, consumer goods or multi-category sourcing environment.
• Proven senior leadership experience across multi-country, multi-functional sourcing, supply chain, quality, ESG or product teams.
• Track record of building, scaling or transforming a regional sourcing operation, including team design, infrastructure, process and governance.
• Strong supplier management, category sourcing, commercial negotiation and cost optimisation capability.
• Experience managing large-scale procurement spend and complex international supplier networks.
• Strong understanding of quality assurance, product compliance, ESG, ethical sourcing and international regulatory expectations.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the confidence to engage and influence executive-level colleagues internationally.
• Fluent English is required; additional Asian language capability would be advantageous.
• Pragmatic, low-ego and solutions-focused leadership style, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving and evolving environment.
