Job summary

Stephenson Harwood LLP in Hong Kong is seeking a funds lawyer with 2-6 PQE to join our finance team. You will work on a broad range of funds matters, from structuring to regulatory compliance, alongside an international client base.

The successful candidate will contribute to client service, draft documentation, conduct in-depth research, and mentor junior colleagues as the team grows. Proficiency in Chinese (written/spoken) is desirable.

Qualifications

• Hong Kong qualified (desirable)
• 2-6 PQE with proven experience in fund structuring and regulatory compliance
• Chinese language (written and spoken) capability is desirable
• Enthusiastic with good communication, writing and analytical skills

Team Structure

The successful candidate will sit within the Finance team, currently consisting of 3 Partners, 2 Of Counsel/Consultants, 4 Associates/Trainees and will work closely with the wider global Funds practice. This growing team covers an expanding range of work across general banking, structured finance, fintech, regulatory and aviation finance work.

Main Responsibilities

• Take instructions from clients and work with the team to advise on a broad range of funds related work
• Draft and negotiate documentation
• Undertake advanced research and analysis
• Project manage processes from initial structuring through to fund launch
• Provide guidance on issues relevant to funds and asset management
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through delivering excellent client service and business development activities
• Mentor and develop the junior members of the team

Attributes/Skills Required

• Hong Kong qualified (desirable), between 2-6 PQE with proven experience in fund structuring and regulatory compliance
• Excellent academics and professional qualifications
• Chinese language (written and spoken) capability is desirable
• Enthusiastic with good communication, writing and analytical skills
• Highly organised, with a strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise effectively
• Good housekeeping/file management practices; managing and recording time promptly and accurately
• Resilient with the ability to handle pressure
• Cooperative, collaborative and able to develop excellent working relationships
• Operates professionally and proactively
