Job summary

Maples Group in Hong Kong is seeking a Fund Accountant to support a portfolio of hedge funds with strong accounting and administrative duties.

In this role you will process daily fund transactions, prepare NAV files, and liaise with investment managers, prime brokers and custodians. You will also handle client compliance files, maintain databases and assist in invoicing and year-end information requests.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting and strong English communication skills.
• Ability to speak Cantonese; Mandarin a plus.
• Experience in fund accounting preferred but not required.
• Team player with client-facing attitude and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Process daily transactions for a portfolio of investment funds and prepare cash reconciliations.
• Prepare NAV files for funds of simple to medium complexity.
• Liaise with investment managers, prime brokers and custodians regarding trading activity.
• Prepare client compliance files, maintain client database and perform admin tasks.
• Assist in invoicing, collect receivables and liaise with auditors for information.

The Opportunity

The Fund Accountant reports to the Vice President and provides administrative services to a portfolio of funds, mainly hedge funds.

Primary responsibilities include:

• responsible for daily processing of transactions for a portfolio of investment funds and the preparation of cash reconciliations
• prepare Net Asset Value ("NAV") files for a portfolio of simple to medium complexity investment funds.
• liaise with investment managers, prime brokers and custodians in relation to trading activity as required for transaction processing and NAV preparation
• prepare client compliance files, maintain the client database and perform general administrative functions related to client funds
• assist in the invoicing process, collection of receivables and will liaise with auditors to provide requested information and respond to queries.

• Developing a continuous learning plan with the consent of the VP and SVP
• Acting in accordance with legal, regulatory and internal risk management requirements, including complying with all MFS policies and procedures and internal guidance notes
• Reporting business issues to the Supervisor, VP or SVP

What You Bring

In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following:

• Degree holder in Accounting
• Good English communication skills and be able to speak Cantonese. Mandarin will be a plus.
• Relevant working experience in fund accounting is an advantage, though it is not essential.
• Candidates with working experience in general accounting will also be considered.
• A team player with positive attitude to face clients and offer work-related assistance to clients and colleagues
• Ability to handle work/client deliverables with tight deadlines
