Full Stack Engineer: React / Java / Node.js / FS / 60-63K P/M

Contract: 10 months
Start Date: ASAP
Work Arrangement: Hybrid — three days onsite and two days working from home

We are partnering with a leading organisation seeking an experienced Full Stack Engineer to support the delivery of a major enterprise technology programme.

The successful candidate will work across frontend and backend development, contributing to the design, development, integration, testing, and deployment of scalable business applications. This position requires strong hands‑on engineering experience across modern JavaScript frameworks, backend technologies, APIs, microservices, and databases.

The candidate will be expected to work primarily onsite during the initial one to two months to become familiar with the project, technology environment, and wider team. The role will then transition to a hybrid working arrangement.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable full stack applications
• Build responsive and user-friendly frontend applications using React or Angular
• Develop backend services using Node.js, Java, and Spring Boot
• Design and implement microservices-based solutions
• Develop, maintain, and integrate RESTful APIs
• Implement appropriate API versioning, authentication, and authorisation controls
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases to support application requirements
• Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, architects, QA engineers, and other developers
• Translate business and technical requirements into practical software solutions
• Participate in solution design, technical discussions, code reviews, and development planning
• Troubleshoot and resolve application, integration, and production issues
• Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and well‑tested code
• Support application deployment and release activities
• Contribute to continuous improvement across engineering practices, development standards, and delivery processes
• Ensure applications meet appropriate standards for performance, security, reliability, and scalability

Requirements

• At least five years of relevant experience as a Full Stack Engineer, Full Stack Developer, Software Engineer, or similar
• Strong frontend development experience using React or Angular
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript
• Solid knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3
• Hands‑on backend development experience using Node.js
• Strong Java development experience, including Spring Boot
• Proven experience designing and developing microservices-based applications
• Strong experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs
• Good understanding of API versioning, authentication, and authorisation
• Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server
• Experience working with MongoDB and Redis
• Strong understanding of software development principles, application architecture, and the full development lifecycle
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline
• Professional proficiency in English and Chinese, including Mandarin and Cantonese
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work effectively within cross‑functional and Agile delivery teams

Desirable Experience

• Experience working with cloud‑based object storage solutions such as Azure Blob Storage or equivalent technologies
• Knowledge of messaging and event‑driven technologies such as Azure Service Bus, RocketMQ, or similar platforms
• Hands‑on experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with CI/CD tools and practices using GitHub, Jenkins, or equivalent platforms
• Strong understanding of unit, integration, and end‑to‑end testing
• Experience implementing production logging, monitoring, tracing, and alerting
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, distributed systems, and enterprise application environments
• Previous experience working on large‑scale transformation or system modernisation programmes
