Job summary

Argyll Scott Singapore is seeking a senior Java developer to build and maintain Java-based applications in the Smart Derivatives perimeter. You will own delivery from development to implementation, and collaborate with clients, project teams, and business analysts to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.

The role requires solid experience in Front Office finance environments, expertise in Spring, Kafka, and modern Java stacks, and a track record in low-latency, multithreaded

Qualifications

• Prior finance experience in Front Office systems is mandatory (trading/derivatives/equities).
• Experience with client connectivity through FIX, APIs, or Mail is advantageous.
• Java 17+ core programming experience mandatory, including multi-threaded programming in low-latency environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Spring, including Spring Boot and preferably Spring Cloud Stream.
• Kafka or other stream-processing platforms experience is a strong advantage.
• Git and related code review tools are mandatory.
• MS SQL Server or Oracle experience is mandatory.
• Angular 12+ and TypeScript/JavaScript are strong advantages.
• DevOps practices and tooling are an advantage.
• Knowledge of Agile development environments is an advantage.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java-based applications within the Smart Derivatives perimeter according to standards.
• Own the successful delivery of technical solutions from development through implementation.
• Communicate progress, requirements, and delivery status with clients and project teams.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Provide 3rd-line production support with Application Support and Production teams.
• Assist in defining and evolving software architectures with technical leads.
• Collaborate with central technology teams to implement development best practices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and engineering standards.
