Alpha Access Limited is seeking an Equity Research Analyst in Hong Kong to cover a broad universe including China A-shares, Hong Kong, the US, Japan and Korea. The role emphasizes a mix of top-down and bottom-up research, incorporating macro trends, policy shifts and industry cycles with deep company analysis.

The ideal candidate has 5–8 years of equity research or investment experience, prior buy-side exposure, and strong Mandarin/English communication.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of equity research or investment experience.
• Prior buy-side experience at a leading hedge fund, mutual fund, asset manager or similar.
• Strong experience in the China onshore market with global equity perspective.
• Deep sector expertise in hardware/technology hardware, Industrials or Financials.
• Ability to blend top-down and bottom-up investment frameworks.
• Excellent fundamental research, modelling and valuation skills.
• Ability to form independent investment views rather than follow consensus.
• Fluent Mandarin and strong professional English.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth fundamental research across Hardware, Industrials and Financials in multiple regions.
• Develop top-down views based on macro trends, policy, cycles and supply chains.
• Conduct bottom-up company research on business models, positioning, earnings drivers and valuation.
• Build and maintain financial models, earnings forecasts and valuation frameworks.
• Engage in primary research via management meetings, industry experts, suppliers and customers.
• Identify catalysts, inflection points and investment opportunities.
• Support Portfolio Manager while independently generating long/short ideas and investment views.
• Clearly articulate thesis, upside/downside and key risks.
• Monitor portfolio holdings as macro and fundamentals evolve.

A leading global investment firm is looking for an experienced Equity Research Analyst to join its investment team in Hong Kong.

The role will focus on generalist, with an investment universe spanning China A-shares, Hong Kong, the US, Japan and Korea. The investment approach combines top-down and bottom-up research, integrating macroeconomic trends, policy developments, industry cycles and global supply-chain dynamics with in-depth company fundamental analysis.

The ideal candidate will have strong fundamental research capabilities, prior buy-side experience, meaningful exposure to the China onshore market, and the ability to translate research into actionable investment views.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth fundamental research across Hardware, Industrials and Financials in China, Hong Kong, the US, Japan and Korea;
• Develop top-down views based on macro trends, policy developments, industry cycles, capex, supply-demand dynamics and global supply chains;
• Conduct bottom-up company research covering business models, competitive positioning, earnings drivers and valuation;
• Build and maintain financial models, earnings forecasts and valuation frameworks;
• Conduct primary research through management meetings, industry experts, suppliers, customers and other industry participants;
• Identify expectation gaps, fundamental inflection points and potential catalysts;
• Support the Portfolio Manager while also independently generating Long / Short investment ideas and forming investment views within assigned coverage;
• Clearly articulate investment thesis, upside/downside, catalysts and key risks;
• Continuously monitor portfolio holdings and key research names as macro, industry and company fundamentals evolve.

Requirements

• Approximately 5–8 years of equity research or investment experience;
• Prior buy-side experience from a leading hedge fund, mutual fund, asset manager or other institutional investment platform;
• Strong experience in the China onshore market, combined with a global equity investment perspective;
• Deep sector expertise in at least one of the following:
• Hardware / Technology Hardware: electronics, semiconductors, consumer electronics, components and related supply chains;
• Industrials: manufacturing, industrial automation, machinery and capital goods;
• Financials: banks, insurance, brokers and diversified financials;
• Strong ability to combine top-down and bottom-up investment frameworks;
• Excellent fundamental research, financial modelling and valuation skills;
• Ability to develop independent investment views rather than simply follow market consensus;
• Strong analytical ability, commercial judgment and intellectual curiosity;
• Degree from a leading university;
• Fluent Mandarin and strong professional English.
