Job summary

IINCA LIMITED in Hong Kong is seeking a motivated Electronic Engineer to join our R&D team, focusing on wireless IoT hardware and firmware development for field-based applications.

You will own the full product lifecycle, from requirements through prototyping, testing, and post-release support, leveraging microcontrollers, RTOS, and Linux scripting to deliver robust, low-power devices in a startup environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related disciplines.
• 2-3 years of embedded IoT system design, hardware development, and production experience.
• Strong practical experience with microcontrollers, interfaces (I2C/UART/SPI), C/C++ firmware, and FreeRTOS/Zephyr.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, and develop next-generation wireless IoT device hardware and firmware.
• Own the full product development lifecycle from requirements analysis to post-release support.
• Troubleshoot system issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Design and build PCBA prototypes and 3D-printed components.
• Evaluate components focusing on cost, power, reliability, and availability.
• Perform power consumption analysis to extend battery life.
• Develop automated testing rigs and scripts for hardware validation and QA.

We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Electronic Engineer to join our R&D team. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in hardware and field-based engineering applications within an innovating start-up.

Job duties:

• Research, design, and develop next-generation wireless IoT device hardware and firmware
• Own the full product development lifecycle: from requirements analysis and circuit design through prototyping, firmware development, testing, documentation, and post-release support
• Troubleshoot system issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
• Design and build PCBA prototypes along with 3D-printed mechanical components
• Select and evaluate components with focus on cost, power efficiency, reliability, and long-term availability
• Perform power consumption analysis and optimisation to achieve long battery life in field conditions
• Develop automated testing rigs and scripts for hardware validation and manufacturing quality assurance
• Establish and maintain calibration, testing, and QA procedures for production and field devices

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related disciplines
• 2-3 years of solid experience in embedded IoT system design, hardware development, and production
• Strong practical experience in microcontrollers, interface protocols (including I2C, UART, and SPI), C/C++ firmware development, and real-time operating system (e.g., FreeRTOS, Zephyr)
• Hands-on experience in schematic capture, PCB layout design, and production process
• Solid hardware troubleshooting and firmware debugging skills
• Strong command of Linux CLI and Python scripting for test automation and data analysis
• Experience with parametric 3D modelling using MCAD software (e.g., Fusion, Onshape, SolidWorks) is an advantage
• Familiarity with cellular IoT technologies is an advantage
• Highly self-motivated and capable of managing tasks with minimal supervision and able to work independently and under pressure
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to stakeholders
• Able to work independently and with a team

• Location: Hong Kong
• Working days: 5 days per week (Flexible working hours)
• Working hours: 40 hours per week
