Job description

Director, Equity Boutiques, Asia

A key leadership role within Wellington Management’s Equity Boutiques, responsible for leading the APAC equity teams, developing strategic plans, and ensuring robust investment performance and talent management. The position is based in HongKong / Singapore and reports to the Head of Equity Boutiques and the Head of Investment Asia.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the department’s strategic plan and various initiatives to ensure the investment teams have the talent and resources needed.
• Lead the APAC Equity Boutique team, overseeing day‑to‑day operations and driving excellent investment performance.
• Partner with the Head of Investment Asia to lead the development and execution of the APAC Investment Platform’s strategic planning.
• Build trust‑based relationships with investors, ensuring portfolios align with client expectations and regulatory requirements.
• Provide leadership across the APAC equity platform, from early‑career professionals to senior portfolio managers and research analysts.
• Drive succession planning, coaching, and performance management for investment professionals.
• Collaborate with global Equity Boutiques and other investment platform line managers to develop and execute global strategies.
• Act as the primary liaison for APAC regulatory and governance forums.
• Ensure the Equity Boutiques platform has the necessary infrastructure and support, including participation in product development and collaboration with Trading, Product Management, Legal, Compliance, IT, and Client Group.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of relevant professional experience, including senior investment or management roles.
• Superior organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to mobilize and influence across the firm.
• Prior management experience of investors and/or first‑hand investment experience (Analyst or Portfolio Manager) is advantageous.
• Experience operating in a highly matrixed, collaborative and integrated global organization.
• Strong academic credentials – MBA and/or CFA (or equivalent).
• Demonstrated leadership experience in the investment or financial industry is essential.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to navigate matrix management, balancing long‑term performance and commercial results.
