Job summary

China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Limited is seeking an experienced MEP Design Engineer to drive concept through to construction and handover. You will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate MEP solutions, review designs, and ensure compliance with building regulations and sustainability requirements.

You will manage design risks, support value engineering, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Degree in EE/ME/BSE or equivalent.
• Proven experience in MEP design across diverse projects.
• Experience with design stage guides (RIBA Plan of Work, BSRIA BG6).
• Strong knowledge of UK regulations, building regulations and guidance.
• Solid understanding of construction methods.
• Strong BIM experience and ISO19650 knowledge.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication, planning and team collaboration abilities.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities under pressure.

Responsibilities

Job description

China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Limited ("the Company" or "China State Hong Kong") started its construction business in Hong Kong in 1979. The Company engages in building construction and civil engineering works. China State Hong Kong is among the largest construction contractors in Hong Kong, and is approved by the Works Bureau, to be on the List of Approved Contractors (Group C) for Public Works in the five major categories of building and civil engineering works, namely, “Buildings”, “Port Works”, “Roads and Drainage”, “Site Formation” and “Waterworks”.

Responsibilities：

• Participate in the MEP design process from concept through to construction and handover.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate MEP solutions into the overall design.
• Review, challenge, and approve consultant and contractor MEP designs and drawings.
• Ensure compliance with building regulations, standards, and sustainability requirements.
• Support the management of design risks, change control, and technical issues throughout the project lifecycle.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all MEP‑related queries.
• Support value engineering initiatives to optimize performance and cost.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers and contribute to developing best practices within the team.

Requirements：

• Degree holder in EE/ME/BSE or equivalent.
• Proven experience working on MEP design across a variety of projects, sectors, and values.
• Proven experience with design stage guides (RIBA Plan of Work, BSRIA Guide BG6).
• Strong knowledge of UK regulations, building regulations and guidance.
• Solid understanding of construction methods.
• Strong knowledge of BIM processes and ISO19650.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication, planning and team collaboration abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
