Job summary

The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) is seeking a Deputy Director (Audit, Assurance and Ethics) in Standard Setting to provide strategic, technical and operational leadership for the AAE portfolio.

You will guide a multidisciplinary team, collaborate with regulators, practitioners and international bodies to advance professional standards, enhance audit quality and ethics, and drive transformation through technology.

Qualifications

• At least 13 years' post-qualification experience
• Deep expertise in auditing, assurance and/or ethics
• Strong understanding of practical realities facing audit firms and SMPs
• Proven leadership experience managing complex projects, teams and stakeholder environments
• Outstanding written, verbal and presentation skills
• Strong research, analytical and critical-thinking abilities
• Ability to influence, negotiate and build consensus among diverse stakeholders
• Demonstrated interest in innovation, AI and technology-enabled transformation
• Excellent command of written and spoken English

Responsibilities

• Lead the Institute's AAE workstreams including standard setting, implementation support and stakeholder engagement
• Monitor developments from IAASB/IESBA and regulators and formulate SSD's strategic response
• Direct the full standard-setting lifecycle from prioritisation to post-implementation activities
• Lead local and international projects on auditing, assurance, ethics, sustainability and related matters
• Develop implementation support strategies for new and revised standards
• Lead engagement with practitioners, especially SMPs, and respond to needs
• Build strong relationships with regulators, audit firms, SMPs and regulators
• Represent HKICPA at meetings and conferences
• Identify opportunities for AI-enabled implementation support solutions
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of technical professionals
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Standard Setting
