Job description

Pacific Basin is one of the world’s leading owners and operators of modern Handysize and Supramax dry bulk ships. We are listed in Hong Kong and operate globally with a fleet of over 270 ships trading worldwide. Our team comprises about 4,600 seafarers and over 400 shore staff in 14 key locations around the world.

Location: Hong Kong

Role Summary

This role within Pacific Basin's Digitalisation team is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of a strategic in-house data platform initiative that will support commercial and operational decision-making across the organisation.

You will be the technical owner of the solution's data architecture, calculation engines, backend services, and core business logic — designing, building, and deploying a full-stack data solution that is scalable, auditable, and tightly integrated with Pacific Basin's wider data ecosystem (Microsoft Fabric and related enterprise platforms) and relevant external data sources.

This is not a pipeline-only role. You will work alongside the Product Engineering team on frontend, deployment, and cross-system alignment, but you are expected to have strong capabilities across data engineering, backend development, and system integration yourself, so that you can independently translate business requirements into production-ready features without acting through intermediaries.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract role. Conversion to a permanent position will be considered at the end of the contract, based on project outcomes and individual performance.

  • Partner with Product Engineering on platform integration, deployment, and cross-system alignment
