Job summary

SGS Hong Kong Limited is inviting applications for an Assistant Chemist in the Fashion & Textile testing lab. You will conduct basic laboratory testing, record data, and prepare samples for testing following SOPs.

Fresh graduates are welcome; day-to-day tasks include sample preparation, data reporting, and assisting senior staff. Proficiency in Excel and bilingual English/Chinese is preferred; training and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Fresh graduate is welcome; more experience will be considered as Assistant Chemist.
• Higher diploma, degree or above in Chemistry.
• Good at computer skills (e.g., Excel) would be an advantage
• Initiative, organized and able to work independently
• Good command of English and Chinese including Mandarin

Responsibilities

• Conduct basic laboratory testing according to SOPs in Fashion & Textile sector.
• Record, present, store and maintain test data accurately
• Calculate simple quantities and report abnormal patterns timely
• Collect samples using specified equipment and procedures
• Prepare samples for testing including extraction and separation
• Apply statistics in sampling and monitor the sampling process
• Handle chemicals, solutions and reagents safely
• Prepare lab materials, equipment, and facilities for chemical tests

Job description

Conduct basic laboratory testing according to standard operating procedures in the Fashion & Textile sector.

Record, present, store and maintain the test data in the required format accurately

Calculate simple scientific quantities; identify and report the abnormal patterns timely

Collect sample using specified equipment and standard procedures

Prepare the sample ready and fit for testing, including but not limited to performing extraction procedures on the sample, carrying out sample separation by applying suitable technique

Apply appropriate statistics techniques in sampling and monitor and verify the sampling process in accordance with the sampling plan

Handle chemicals, solutions and reagents safety

Follow customer requirements and prepare laboratory materials, equipment and facilities required for carrying out chemical tests in testing laboratories

Requirements

Fresh graduate is welcome, more experience will consider as Assistant Chemist
