Gravitas Recruitment Group Hong Kong is seeking a versatile Software Engineer with a strong backend foundation in Python or C# to join our technology team in Hong Kong. You will work closely with front-office practitioners, portfolio managers, and risk analysts to build high-performance data pipelines, trade execution utilities, and cross-system interoperability frameworks.

Role: Software Engineer (Python / C#)
Location: Hong Kong (Central)

Job Summary
We are looking for a versatile Software Engineer with a strong backend foundation in Python or C# to join our technology team in Hong Kong. In this role, you will work closely with front-office practitioners, portfolio managers, and risk analysts to build high-performance data pipelines, trade execution utilities, and cross-system interoperability frameworks.

Core Responsibilities

• System Integration: Develop, optimize, and maintain reliable software components using Python and C# that interface with our core trading infrastructure and proprietary execution runtime (SIL).
• Tooling & Automation: Build toolsets, internal scripting engines, and diagnostic utilities to streamline real-time market data handling and post-trade workflows.
• Data Engineering: Design and query efficient backends using standard persistence models (SQL, MongoDB, or time-series data engines) to manage large-scale quantitative datasets.
• Collaborative Development: Partner directly with the quantitative research desks to safely productionize pricing and risk models.

What We Look For (Technical & Mindset)

• Language Proficiency: 3+ years of professional backend software engineering experience with strong idioms in either Pythonor C# (.NET Core).
• Pragmatic Architecture: Clear understanding of low-latency design patterns, concurrent programming, and cross-process communication (REST APIs, WebSockets, or messaging systems like Kafka).
• The 'Hacker' Spirit: An active interest in learning how things work underneath. Experience contributing to open-source software, writing custom scripting utilities, or engineering hobby projects is highly regarded.
• Clean Practices: Rigor around test coverage, automation-first deployments, and maintainable documentation.
