Job summary

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Engineer to design, implement and maintain Linux-based infrastructure and virtualization stacks across the enterprise.

You will partner with application teams, perform incident and change management, automate BAU tasks with Ansible, and ensure high availability for critical systems in a fast-paced financial environment in Hong Kong.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or IT-related disciplines.
• 8+ years hands-on RHEL administration experience.
• Strong system tuning and troubleshooting skills.
• Scripting experience with Bash.
• Experience with enterprise virtualization and private cloud platforms such as VMware, OpenStack.
• Familiarity with automation practices and Ansible.
• Experience managing large-scale changes and incident response.
• Team player with a passion for learning in the financial industry.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Critical Service Delivery project teams are responsible for the design and build of IT infrastructure for HKEX application systems. We strive for the highest IT standard by looking out for new technologies as well as continuous internal process automation and improvement.

Job Duties:

As Linux Senior Systems Engineer, you will provide support to the administration and support for the company-wise Linux systems and Virtualization infrastructure. We play a critical role to maintain these company-wise systems that are critical to daily business operation. We also partner with application and infrastructure teams to operate our systems in such fast growing financial markets in Hong Kong.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with the application teams on IT solution configuration and review.


• Interact with internal and external parties on planning and execution.


• Play a role in incident and problem management such as impact assessments, troubleshooting and remediation and prevention.


• Compile operation and technical documents such as knowledge base, technical procedures and test reports.


• Automate BAU processes


• Provide production support including on-call duties when required


• Execute changes in accordance with change management procedures


• Support mission-critical systems with high availability requirements


• Manage patching, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening.


• Support audit, regulatory and internal control requirements.


• Coordinate with data centre operations and vendors for infrastructure issues.


• Collaborate with the Cyber security/infrastructure engineering and project teams to adopt modern technologies, such as multi-cloud and container orchestration, to enhance manageability.

Requirement:

• Degree in Computer Science, Information System or IT related disciplines.


• 8+ years of direct, hands-on RHEL administration experience.


• Advanced knowledge of System tuning and troubleshooting.


• Familiarity with scripting (Bash).


• Experience with enterprise virtualization and private cloud platforms (e.g., VMware, OpenStack, DCS, HCS)


• Familiarity with Automation practices and tools (Ansible).


• Experience of managing change implementation on large scale systems.


• Good team player with passion to learn and aspirations for career development in the financial industry.
