Job summary

Leadingnation is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer in Hong Kong to take a leadership role in review and approval of structural drawings and submissions, ensuring design integrity. You will coordinate design, calculations, material prep, fabrication, and construction supervision while monitoring site execution for compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Excellent English and Chinese communication required.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in structural engineering with main contractors.
• Strong knowledge of design and construction processes.
• HKIE accreditation is preferred.

• Identify and resolve complex structural issues on site to avoid delays.
• Inspect subcontractors' technical work for quality and compliance.
• Liaise with consultants, contractors, authorities and stakeholders to deliver on time and budget.
• Lead structural tender processes, evaluate proposals, review terms, oversee budget.

Job description

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering recognized by HKIE.
• 12+ years of experience in structural engineering from main contractors.
• MHKIE (Structural Discipline) is a definite advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead the review and approval of structural drawings, calculations, method statements, and technical submissions to ensure design specifications and structural integrity.
• Coordinate all engineering activities, including design, calculations, material preparation, fabrication, and construction supervision.
• Monitor site execution to ensure full compliance with statutory requirements, contractual obligations, and safety/quality standards.
• Identify and resolve complex structural and construction issues on site to avoid project delays.
• Monitor and inspect subcontractors’ technical work, designs, and methods for quality and compliance.
• Liaise with consultants, contractors, authorities, and internal stakeholders to ensure structural works are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with project requirements.
• Lead structural tender processes, evaluate contractor proposals, review contract terms, and oversee budget control throughout the project lifecycle.

Job requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, preferably from courses listed in the HKIE's List of Accredited Programmes.
• Membership of the HKIE (Structural Discipline) is a definite advantage.
• At least 12 years’ experience in structural engineering with main contractors, of which at least 3 years’ working experience in multi-disciplinary MEP or private residential construction projects.
• Proficiency in Structural analysis software is preferred.
• Well-organized and self-motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin).
• Candidates with more experience will be considered as Structural Manager.
• Immediate availability or a short notice period is preferred.
