Job summary

KPMG China in Hong Kong seeks a high-calibre tax professional to support the Tax Managed Services team, focusing on US tax for expatriates and Chinese clients.

Candidates bring 3–5 years of individual US tax experience, a professional qualification (tax/legal/accounting), and strong English and Chinese skills. You will collaborate with clients and KPMG offices globally on complex remuneration and reporting matters.

Qualifications

• Degree holder with a professional qualification (tax, legal or accounting).
• 3–5 years of individual US tax experience in a professional firm with Chinese clients.
• Experience handling complex technical issues concerning employee remuneration (e.g., equity plans, dual contracts, pensions).
• Good understanding of US international information return reporting requirements (Form 5471, 8621, 8858, 8865, 926) and expatriation tax rules.
• Understanding of US estate, gift tax and trusts is a plus.
• US CPA or IRS EA is desirable.
• Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese.
• Well-organized with the ability to meet multiple deadlines and work under pressure.
• Self-starter and good team player.

Responsibilities

• Apply understanding of US tax legislation to client issues and prepare/review tax returns for expatriates.
• Work with clients to develop tax-efficient solutions addressing business needs.
• Use knowledge of non-tax legal, financial and business information to address client issues.
• Regularly expand knowledge of the tax business and stay updated on relevant developments.
• Deal with tax authority enquiries effectively.
• Interact with clients and KPMG overseas offices to complete tax returns and ad hoc projects.
