Job summary

AXA Hong Kong and Macau is seeking an experienced Financial Lines Underwriter to manage SME portfolios, including professional liability, within delegated authority. This role requires risk assessment, pricing, quotes, and policy docs, with emphasis on profitability and guideline adherence.

You will steward new business and renewals, support portfolio management, and help develop client materials while nurturing relationships with intermediaries. Fluency in Mandarin and English is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Insurance or related field, 5+ years in General Insurance and Financial Lines.
• ACII, ANZIIF and IA license preferred.
• Proactive, collaborative, independent with strong judgment and analysis.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiar with underwriting systems.
• Strong written and spoken communication in Mandarin and English.

Job description

Responsibilities:

• Independently underwrite financial lines products for SME clients, including professional liability, within authority limits
• Conduct risk assessments, determine coverage and pricing, issue quotes, endorsements, and policy documentation
• Review new business and renewals to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to underwriting guidelines; monitor profitability
• Implement prudent underwriting practices aligned with the company’s underwriting philosophies and profitability targets
• Support portfolio management activities, including tracking performance against business plans and profitability targets
• Assist with marketing initiatives, product presentations, and development of client-facing materials to promote Financial Lines offerings
• Develop and maintain close relationships with insurance intermediaries and other distribution channels; explore new business opportunities
• Respond to intermediary inquiries and provide timely service within defined service standards
• Align underwriting decisions with profitability targets; maintain documentation and audit trails for compliance
• Participate in ad-hoc projects, product development, and process improvement initiatives
• Monitor regulatory compliance and internal controls; elevate issues as needed
• Prepare and present performance reports to management; identify issues and propose corrective actions

Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree or above, preferably in Insurance Studies or related field
• A minimum of 5ears in the insurance industry, with emphasis on General Insurance and Financial Lines; professional liability experience preferred
• ACII, ANZIIF and IA license holder preferred
• Proactive, collaborative team player; able to work independently; detail-minded; sound judgement; analytical and problem-solving abilities; strong interpersonal and presentation skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with underwriting systems
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with insurance intermediaries and distribution partners
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
• Strong written and spoken communication in Mandarin and English
