About the Role
We are looking for a talented Assistant Manager, Corporate Communications & Marketing Support to join our Communications team who be responsible for providing high quality and professional communications support, advice, and content to the Hong Kong market and is part of the Group Communications function. This role will work closely with the Corporate Marketing Lead in the planning and implementation of internal and external communications activities to inform, inspire, and listen to our audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate Communications
- Deliver communications best practice, making use of all existing channels (e.g. Viva Engage, internal newsletters, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, social media, OUP.com etc) and encourage employees across the branches to actively share their stories and collaborate using these channels, to drive and support staff engagement.
- Partner with internal teams to support employee engagement activities.
- Support the Senior Manager Teams in communicating strategic plans and priorities to ensure awareness and understanding of future direction and vision.
- Monitor news in the business environment and local education sector, identify relevant trends and developments, and regularly report on these to the local management team and divisional parties.
- Develop corporate materials and manage online channels that strengthen communications with external stakeholders to drive growth and market share; as well as protect and enhance OUP’s reputation.
- Work with the central Group Communications team to support internal communications, and to communicate out to the wider Press about activities within the branches.
- Help to extend the reach and impact of central Group Communications activities within Hong Kong
- Contribute to external reports (such as the Annual Report and Responsible Publishing Report) and create content about key updates and developments in Hong Kong that can be shared on internal and external channels.
- Monitor and response to possible crisis scenarios and work with Group Communications to provide communications plans, statements, and protocols.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Support the Managing Director in engaging with public stakeholders including, but not limited to, relevant central and local governments, industry associations, and non-governmental industry alliances.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team on brand campaigns, promotional activities and events
- Monitor competitor communications, media coverage, and industry news to identify trends and opportunities.
- Provide necessary supports to Corporate Marketing team according to the roles assigned
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
- Drive existing and future CSR programs that help to expand access to OUP resources to people in need, through strategic engagement with external and internal key stakeholders.
- Work with business departments to identify candidate partners for CSR and find alignment in program delivery for joint brand promotion and reach of the OUP mission.
- Coordinate corporate giving initiatives, including donations and sponsorships.
- Share positive stories relating to Corporate Social Responsibility internally, externally, and within OUP’s reporting activities (Annual Report, Responsible Publishing Report).
About You
- 3-5 years of proven experience in delivering internal or external communications, stakeholder engagement and/or PR.
- Skilled and knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office (eg. PowerPoint), social media, eDM/CRM platforms, and an understanding of the role of intranet platforms.
- A university degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Administration, or related disciplines
- Unquestioned integrity and ethical standard in workplace
- Strong and demonstrable writing and communication skills in a bilingual and culturally diverse environment
- Being able to work within a team and as an individual contributor to plan and execute projects
- Ability to conduct effective outreach with stakeholders, and earn their trust in a timely manner
- Experience of working in a multi-cultural and cross-functional environment
- Experience of the education, academic, or publishing industry and its stakeholders in Hong Kong and Mainland China is desirable.
