Job summary

China P&I Club in Hong Kong is seeking an experienced finance professional to support the day-to-day finance operations, including policy accounting, premium and commission accounting, claims payments, expense processing and general ledger activities as business volumes grow.

You will assist month-end close, prepare management accounts and regulatory reporting under HKFRS, and contribute to HKFRS 17/HKRBC related reporting while driving process improvements and finance automation within a

Qualifications

• 3+ years in financial reporting, control or accounting, preferably in insurance.
• Good understanding of HKFRS and financial reporting processes.
• Familiarity with HKFRS 17 and HKRBC is an advantage.
• Experience with insurance financial systems or policy administration systems is preferred.
• Strong analytical and detail-oriented, able to work independently in a hands-on environment.

Responsibilities

• Support establishment and day-to-day operation of finance processes including policy accounting, premium and commission accounting, and general ledger activities.

• Support regulatory returns and HKRBC reporting for marine insurance in line with Insurance Authority requirements.
• Assist with technical accounting matters and interpretation of policies.
• Support internal and external audits, follow up on findings, and help implement improvements.
• Identify opportunities to streamline manual processes and contribute to finance automation initiatives.
• Provide general support to the Finance Manager on ad-hoc projects and development of the finance function as the company expands.

• Support the establishment and day-to-day operation of finance processes, including policy accounting, premium and commission accounting, claims-related payments, expense processing and general ledger activities as business volumes grow.
• Assist in month-end closing, account reconciliations and the development of a robust financial close process.
• Support the preparation of management accounts, financial statements and operational reports under HKFRS.
• Support the preparation of regulatory returns and HKRBC-related reporting for marine insurance business in accordance with Insurance Authority requirements.
• Assist with technical accounting matters, including the application and interpretation of accounting policies.
• Support internal and external audits, follow up on findings and help implement process improvements.
• Identify opportunities to streamline currently manual processes and contribute to system enhancement and finance automation initiatives.
• Provide general support to the Finance Manager on ad-hoc projects and the continuous development of the finance function as the company expands.

Job Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in financial reporting, financial control or accounting, preferably within the insurance industry. Experience in general or marine insurance is an advantage.
• Good understanding of HKFRS and financial reporting processes.
• Familiarity with HKFRS 17 and HKRBC is an advantage.
• Experience with insurance financial systems or policy administration systems is preferred.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently in a hands-on environment.
• Good organisational skills and willingness to take ownership of processes in a growing team.
• Proficient in spoken and written English and Chinese.
• QP students / those pursuing professional qualifications (HKICPA or equivalent) are welcome.
